Has anyone been reimbursed for their certifications this year that are directly related to your job - such as CPA, CISSP, etc?
I have never had to pay out of pocket for this for 15 years.

There won't be corp titles for long. The current leadership actively opposes them, for anyone but the inner circle, of course. Just a matter of time.
Actually your right , I have paid a lot out of pocket too and its just too expensive. Most employers will pay for the cert, training and then give bonus too for each cert.
this cloud is a good one to train in -->

@1ios+1gfz3QcZ, this is a reasonable requirement. Honestly most companies require more. You should be able to reach this goal easily, but you should not go in with a defeated mindset before you start or it will be difficult. Just get training on udemy (or some training site) from the higher rated classes, and you can even pick from here for your cloud certs (for example) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2FKdqPbyk0
Cloud will be important for every job especially for those in tech even if you don't use it today.
@1ios+1gfz3QcZ
The reason why is because its fixing to become very important to your job. Cloud and AI or automation are going to be the prime areas of technology.
We (in Tech) are being told that we must all be "Cloud Certified" before the end of Q3 this year.
That's a bit ambitious.
Most of us (myself included) have nothing to do with "Cloud" here at WF. I could understand certification if it was relevant to our actual jobs, or if we were consultants selling services to others - but "Certification for the sake of Certification" defies logic.
To be fair, WF is offering a limited number of "vouchers" for some of these exams. And these exams are not cheap - some are over $600 per attempt.
If I was going to invest the time and money to get myself to the point where I could pass the series of tests required for a certification in this area, I would first see what other companies are hiring for - and then work towards THAT.
@kye+1gfz3QcZ I'm in Risk also and have been asking about CRISC and many other trainings. It's always an excuse giving for why there's no training budget or reimbursement. All they care about is completing those dry a** regulatory trainings in develop you. It's very obvious they don't care about career development and growth.
There are some breaks from the government too, if you research
@kye+1gfz3QcZ - Regulators will love that approach. Not!!
What are they thinking?
I'm in Risk and my CISSM and CISA were both denied and have been every year since I started, they don't want smart educated people in Risk, they want people who will tick boxes. Not covering these items obviously related to the job shows the level of commitment they have to the topic.
Everyone in EGS is getting costs covered. Different policies for EGS. Go figure for US.
Only ones listed as part of the job description requirements. Any other designations I’ve always had to pay out of pocket
Yes, I've gotten reimbursed this year (and am not EGS)
I've gotten denied for my annual dues the last two years after always getting it reimbursed in the past. But the certification isn't relevant to my current role.
When you say “directly related to your job” do you mean required and essential for your job? Or just nice to have? I know someone with a PMP who used to get reimbursed ever year no problem. This person is super-organized, keeps the whole team organized, facilitates everything, etc. BUT is not a project manager. Neither a PMP nor project management experience are requirements for their current role. So guess what? No reimbursement. I have a lot less problem with this change in policy than I do with the horrendously misguided approach to RTO. At least there’s a logical business rationale for this.
Our group was notified that certifications and the associated membership costs will not be paid or reimbursed; at least for this year. I would like to point out that USAA offers $1500 per year for continuing education/certifications.
Wow really? I would stop taking those then
TAG=NAME
VALUE=EVIDENCE
Nope
Nope & tied to job duties.
Policy forbids reimbursement unless the certification is a requirement of your job. You can thank Chuckie for another mindless cost-cutting effort at the expense of employee credentials and morale. Pay up yourself if you want to maintain a cert.
I got free tuition reimbursement to Psychotic State
As a VP, the firm makes sure to take care of most accreditation costs.
Not for state bar dues if you are outside Legal.
@qjs+1gfz3QcZ I’m not under EGS, got approval for reimbursement.
All management knows, they are just dragging their feet before I can even submit. It was supposed to be decided in first q, yet here I am still wondering.
Only EGS employees are getting reimbursed. US employees are not the go forward.
You have to get approval from your manager and keep all the receipts for employee reimbursement. They even reimburse the study material costs if you pass the exams.
