Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Overhead

When will AT&T cut the massive overhead departments in Legal, Finance and HR? Also, are Executive perks and private jets still justified?

We have way to many non- technical techs hanging around all day with nothing to do. Cut that are down and save some big dollars with no loss in productivity

Anyone posting about eliminating legal and HR have even the remotest clue of what those organizations do—or have you worked in those areas?!? No? Of course you don’t and haven’t. Pay attention: HR does not establish and set guidelines for compensation nor do they determine who will be layed off. Your leadership, those who you report to, has that responsibility. HR manages the processes of getting people off the payroll. Further, if you don’t know the scope of what corporate attorneys handle especially for a business as large as ATT, look it up on Google.
ATT is not a Mom and Pop business. If you prefer that type of model, I suggest you move on.

Private jets vs. taking public transportation. That is not carbon neutral!

HR came up with stupid bad tools and cut long promised benefits.

After two M&A disasters Corporate Strategy needs to go! Also, Legal needs to be cut in half. All the Internal lawyers do is call other outside lawyers to do the work!

Sadly this thread is just sniping at other departments cause this place is poisonous

But it is a legit question.
You sell off discovery and spin of dtv, aren’t you losing a big chunk of revenue and thus headcount would be affected, including corporate

In my bu some went with the purchase to the new company. And now we have a hiring freeze. But no layoffs yet.

Isn't it great, everybody wants to shut down to the departments that they don't like. AT&T is a profitable going concern it's not time to jump for the lifeboats yet

Imagine if they kept the correct amount of employees and they would not need all the HR, legal, and any other crud associated with layoffs.

Technicians in out of region areas of the country have been idle for more than 80% of the time for months! That would be a good place to start for a force adjustment, seriously! Someone needs to get their head out of the sand and realize this!

That's nothing compared to thousand or even 10's of thousands of techs with no work >80% of the time. Add to that the wasted gas driving around "looking busy" and it's millions a day I'd bet.

They just need to outsource HR since they add very little value. Plus, there are no good leaders left in HR.

HR leadership cuts? If this happened, we wouldn’t be able to get a new and innovative employee performance review system every couple of years.

The Corporate Media group also needs an extreme overhaul.
