They do that to while laying off
McElfresh said today in the townhall he will have to pay frontline more because of inflation and we will have to recover that elsewhere in the business. Higher wages plus other impacts of Bidung's inflation like higher energy costs will hit the P&L hard and they will be forced to cut non frontline workers
Layoffs were frequent long before stankey was in charge. Reasonable to think they will be common long after he is gone. It's an easy way to make the numbers right. Too many were surplussed and can't get the work done? Time to hire. Rinse, repeat.
Although, Stankey did say T operating expenses still need to be reduced by $1B this year. That's gonna be difficult to do when T is now paying more than $1M more per week just in fuel costs!
Layoffs at T should be considered ancient history. I don't think AT&T is in any position to layoff. I can't think of any activity that Stankey has been involved in that was successful, why would layoffs be any different? He's just not capable of creating a plan and then implimenting the plan to successful completion.
If no job is safe, then why is there constant hiring of techs in Business Services? Either Mr. Stankey is unaware of it or is onboard with the organization's growth. Either way, it's a very safe from layoffs business unit to be part of!
“NO JOB OS SAFE” J Stanky
Tune in for the McElfrsh THall on Thursday. If history is any indication, You can count on him making a statement or two that will fire up the workforce.
"manager layoff payouts"
There is no such thing. What are you talking about?
They will cut the manager layoff payouts in half before another big layoff. There isn't much more they can take away.
If there supposedly is going to be more layoffs, why haven't we heard anything concrete?
This website is full of opinions and speculation at best and yet, nothing regarding numbers or organizations that will be impacted! Every statement on this blog is just an opinion with no teeth! I don't believe this year is just another year of more of the same! I believe this year will be a reprieve to some extent! Been around a long time, I think I know the patterns by now!
“ True. Do yourself a favor and leave.”
Do the company a favor and leave. Your attitude clearly indicates you being no value to the table.
T will never give up on layoffs, in fact they will increase exponentially moving forward until they reach their target headcount. The current business model cannot and will not support the bloated headcount. If you think you’re safe, think again. Engineering, Sales, Operations all can and will be staffed by outsourcing. Customer dissatisfaction is factored into these decisions…..get educated and find a company that you’ll be able to build your career…it’s isn’t here..or ignore it all and be caught with nothing.
I wish they'd offer me a severance option. I'd gladly take it
Until then, I'll stick around cashing that paycheck weekly making them just as miserable as they make me by doing the absolutely bare minimum required to not get fired.
Certainly no reason to TRY anymore with this BS comp plan and indefinite stagnation coming to a contract agreement with the CWA putting all our raises on hold.
They give me the bare minimum, they'll get the bare minimum in return
It's quite possible the looming recession can affect the headcount in T, but I doubt that will be the case. T will blame the recession if there are in-fact layoffs, but I don't believe it will be the real reason. T already has had a target number of people it wants to employ, the rest are just unnecessary overhead.
Somebody is missing layoffs. Wait a little bit. It is coming along with the recession. Watch it!!!!
You make yourself miserable. Just trying to blame AT&T. Even though it's your laziness and underperforming.
We already got a notice about hiring inexperienced people and how to train them once they arrive. It's called train your replacement.
True. Do yourself a favor and leave.
They certainly know how to make their employees miserable.
Also, most promotions, significant pay increases are going to non-eligible pension employees. Otherwise stated as the newer employees. This is how the company is rewarding employees. Not by your work but by your age.
It's certainly cheaper for them to do it this way.
