I'm seeing them in some areas I know were hit by layoffs less than six months ago. I'd understand if we were laying off in some areas and hiring in others, that's how it's supposed to go, but laying off hard working people just to turn around and start hiring for their positions just a few months later? That makes no sense.

These are fake job postings, meant to allow low level managers to say "there are no layoffs coming, see we have job openings". Keep the workers at Wells until the off shore team is ready to take over, so there are no lapses in production.
The once really great and very helpful "Help Desk" has become the "helpless desk" with a wait time of 45 minutes, to many hours, to get to even the 1st level representatives.
This nails it. Layoffs hit, others left creating openings. Now the bank is having to pay more in salary to fill the holes.
It's all about moving jobs to India and where they lay off and hire again in the same place, it's about kicking out older people with seniority.
@lhh That’s cute! You think we ask Congress to offshore? Haaaaaa!
anyone who has been with the company a while is likely below market rate for the same position so assuming they rehire the position it probably ends up costing more because now you are paying market rate.
It’s a perennial thing in marketing. Lay off, rewrite the job description slightly, hire, give new person the exact same work.
It’s how managers manage to surround themselves with people beholden to them. It’s not even a secret. They brag about it.
It's so they can say they can't find anyone in the States, so please, congress, let us hire more h1bs and offshore more jobs.
I'm guessing it's easier to let go and re-hire at huge discounts, rather than to talk long-timers into taking 25-30% salary cuts. I mean... would you take a voluntary salary cut? Yeah... most people wouldn't. It's a business. When you need to cut payroll, you cut payroll.
yup, see it a lot both on and offshore. Layoff years of experience to turn around and higher their buddies or folks more like them.
