Just read an article that Direct TV has lost in the neighborhood of 1 million customers over the last year. Part of a move away from the major TV providers. Since AT&T no longer reports that metric publcly it's an estimate (fairly accurate imo). Big question is of that million how many also dropped other AT&T service(s) due to poor service by Direct TV?

best decision ever to buy directv next to buying time warner
Satellite 📡 tv is dead….time to realize only people that want it live in the backcountry with no other means for tv….
Don't worry AT&T is looking for more shiny objects to buy and quickly remove its shininess..
Directv continues to shed 340k to 470k customers per quarter on a consistent basis.
Given that a majority of our remaining customers are elderly retirees - the average age of D's demographic is now up to 62.3 years - hardly a growth demo - the death rate among seniors is more than enough to account for a majority of that loss count.
T , as a "passive investor" has no obligation to report losses in this sector. Nor does the operational "owner", TPG , as DTV has been rolled into their broader investment portfolio.
Convenient case of planned blindness. Nothing to see here, move along and clear the road please.
The new DTV has all of it's focus on Stream in hopes of luring the naive into paying 4 to 5 times the costs of any other OTT service for the same banal cr-p their Grandparents get delivered over the ugly metal grey vulture screwed into their roof. The legacy Satellite side is being openly ignored and barely referenced in the internal communications of the New DTV.
Us, the last sailors on the Titanic, give Directv 3 years, 5 at the most, before it goes into the trash bin of obsolete technologies.
The only thing hurting AT&T is the CEO and BoD. Get rid of the cancer if you want to see improvement.
Directv is dead and getting ready to be swallowed up by Dish. TPG will make some profit and leave. That is the plan.
Wow, still whining about DirecTV.
Directv is a drain
AT&T still owns a majority of Directv. However they are only reported as affiliate, so financially they can show losses and gains. Market metrics are not reported.
Please - att destroyed direct tv - they were doing great until att bought them high and sold them low.
their customer service ratings were through the roof until att bought them
wish att would stop blaming others for what they know is their sc--w ups.
wake up people and start looking in the mirror.
