I finally left this dumpster fire for a new gig (VERY happy about that). On my last day our department admin said 1) she put in a request to have my personal belongings at my desk pre-COVID shipped to me; 2) I would get a box to ship my laptop back.
It’s been 2 months, and when I checked in with her she said she emailed “them” and hasn’t heard back. WTH? Is there a form or process I can fill out on my own.
She also asked when I’d be returning my laptop. I said I’m more than happy to once I get my personal items back.
Why is this so complicated?

At CIC in Charlotte there are retail outlets, so I made an appointment to look at new glasses to get in then left there and went to my office. Collected the few things I wanted and left through a side door to avoid the guard station. Gotta get creative.
all the desks were packed up so your stuff is probably sitting in a box. If you have a colleague in the office, they can help you get your stuff.

Same thing happened to me. Filled out a form in the Lobby & have not heard a thing. Boss was a gas lighter that said "we'll send your things", even though I explained that my things were in unassigned cabinets on the floor, so no-one really knows what's mine. She ignored me. I called the assigned "RTO Floor co-ordinator", (the Ph # I wrote down from an email just before RTO) and the phone # has been disconnected. The space manager on my old team was not transparent on available space & moved my things without letting me know anyway, prior to covid, so I have NO IDEA where my things are. If they'd let me back on the floor to claim my stuff and leave, I'd do that, but no, that's too simple.
I am left wells 3 months back. Rather than ‘know’ what equipment they have given me , they are asking me for the list of stuff they have given ! . It does not look like they know what to expect.
If you bounced she should have submitted and mdt request to collect your machine/token/access badge.
She should have submitted another request to have your items sent to you.
The mdt request takes about two weeks to process then you receive a box at your home address with a return label for you to send your items back to the depot.
I am not sure how long it takes for them to ship your items back to you. I think it depends on if they know exactly where they are.
If you were displaced you will have to wait the 60day notice period before the process the requests.
When you leave a company, whatever they do for you after you have left the building falls under a favor or an assigned task by the person's higher up. So if the person who should be doing this has not, assume that person has not been assigned the task. So it may be seen as a favor if that person is to do this for you. You can only imagine when that will take place.
Take it easy, take a chill pill... your items have been sold on eBay. Enjoy the new gig.
Moral of the story for the rest of us ; pick up your stuff first, then resign ….
Low and behold we simply let a former employees come back into the office and pick up their stuff/ clean out their desk under the supervision of someone. I had people wanting to do that but nope, can’t do things the efficient way.
Why is it so complicated? Here is your answer: Because the Bank is a Dumpster Fire as you stated. That's why. The right hand doesn't know what the F the left hand is doing. Plain and simple. Two, there is likely nobody really accountable for it and the process like most things there. Hence why they have so many consent orders and issues - because for years there was not clear lines of responsibility and accountability. If something was broken or not working, everyone just pointed fingers at someone else!

Honestly, it's a ridiculously cumbersome system with a lot of delays. It's unfortunate for both you and her (I've been involved on the admin side, and it's no picnic either). Call HR to help get and keep the ball rolling (you should have contact numbers in your separation paperwork). Good luck!
