Yup! Officially WFH for years before the pandemic- NOW they think I need to go in 3xs a week - to do exactly what I do at home - just less time to do it with the commute and setting up and shutting down? Insane

Yeah, all remote arrangements are rescinded. Compliance rates are low, though. About half of employees are coming into the office three times per week.
ICS = information & cyber security
Nope... I'm in ICS and have been a "Field Rep" since I started working here... No mention of RTO for my group, even before COVID. All of ICS had a exception in place.
Pretty simple. SvB got pi-p slapped by the CEO. They want to minimize the # of full time WFH as much as humanly possible. A) because it drives more voluntary attrition and B) because it reduces resistance in others by taking away the "yeah, but that group over there doesn't have to do it". Therefore, it "makes sense". It pi---s people off, and of course, that's the objective.
Yes. Full time tech WFH for 15 years. I understand forcing those that were in the office pre-covid to RTO but why everyone? Like many of you, I go into the office, almost no one there, have Skype meetings and leave. When SVB said in one of the AMA's that RTO for tech would be as needed and we have to do "what makes sense", the directs said the same thing in town halls. "We have to do what makes sense and coming into the office when your team is in other offices across the world, doesn't make sense". Fast forward about a week and 1/2 when SP reversed all of that and stated everyone must come in. I'm not sure what happened to the "make sense" argument.
Previously had intermittent FMLA due to frequent bouts of illness. A senior leader had the rears in seat mentality while teams all around were going full or most of the time remote. That exec left and the rest of us got to go full remote. Funny thing is I stopped getting sick all the time. Suddenly I had PTO to roll over and use on things other than doctors. I've been remote for several years before covid and now I have to go back in. Yay...
I was fully remote with a signed telecommuting agreement for nearly 15 years. Now I’m forced to drive 30 miles to an office to sit in a cubicle where I still talk to coworkers via Skype. This entire thing is pointless and I’m looking at other companies that will allow me to stay home.
Was hired years ago as virtual employee, it worked perfectly for years before covid, now forced into an office where I have not collaborated once with anyone! Utterly pointless, looking to leave …
I've been working for the firm for more than 20 years remotely. I was told I needed to return to the office, so I posted for a position that was listed as remote (there are not many) in a totally different line of business.
I have no plans to ever return to the office. I would insist on early retirement before considering a return. I'm retirement eligible.
Must be nice to be able to shred agreements whenever you want with no consequences. Funny thing is, it turns out that there are consequences after all. These NYC hacks can call us cultists or non-compliant rogues or whatever other names they want to call us. The fact remains, our collective effort prints about $20B a year, while the execs contribution is somewhere between Jack and S and robbing the piggy bank. If they all quit tomorrow there'd be no operational impact, a massive reduction in unnecessary payroll, and a huge drop in the corporate douchetardery index. Convince me that'd be a bad thing.
Yes, if you review the information on 'Our Workplace' you will see it was announced months ago that all remote work agreements were cancelled.
Dont understand how so many people are getting medical accommodations to WFH. No knocking it, but if you can work ar your computer sitting in a chair at home....can you not do the same in the office?
I hate RTO....but I can't in good conscience convince a doc that I can't RTO for a medical reason.
What is your reason? This is anonymous so please--do tell.
Can you not walk?
These offices are ghost towns....you arent getting covid here anymore than anywhere else you might go.
Fully remote, and far away from the nearest office. Like 75 miles. Several on my team the same.
They told us to keep working remote "for now", but that "they might crack down on remote work at some point".
If they do "crack down" on us, then I'll hope for a severance.
Yes!
Yes. Pre-covid my team was allowed by our manager to wfh as long as the work was getting done. Our team is scattered throughout the country. We'd go in when it made sense- team meetings, management was coming into town, specific trainings,etc- we would be in the office. That is the way it should be, as long as you get your work done. RTO should be the managers decision for their team.
Yes, and then I quit instead of deal with the drama and bu-----t that was going to ensue when I refused to return. Wells is not worth it!
Yes - have been fully remote for 6 years. Now back up the office . Agreement ? What agreement ? One minute it is enforced, the next minute overturned at the option of the company …
No. I was hired remote years before Covid and have not had to RTO as I'm in the middle of nowhere. But I'm not holding my breath I can remain remote.
No but we got lucky and I have a medical accommodation as a backup
No but only because of a medical accommodation. Otherwise, after 20+ years of wfh, I would be in a branch.
Fully remote since 2015
Company terminated that agreement
Now forced to drive to a vacant office 3 days a week so I can sit by myself at considerable personal expense
Yes, my entire department was fully remote for over 8 years are now expected to RTO.
I worked fully remote for years before RTO, as did many. We are now forced to come in and pretend it's helpful or useful in some way.
Of course not. We had agreements before Covid and the company always honors their agreements.
Yes.
