Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Sales Channels Beware

Senior leadership just came and departed from Dallas. Big cuts ahead from any sales channel. The massive expansion will mean a massive reduction. Some teams ballooned 8x and will return to original headcount based off of these meetings. If you org had recent jobs opened and then closed them beware. This is a budget trick to open jobs before layoffs just to close them right away.

I had a manager once who said she would rather credit a feature if a customer returned than "0 out" on the sale. Usually our store would slam next up and "No phone leaves without insurance" it's all fraud stemming down from ARSM's. No one is held accountable for fraud because as long as it ranks it works

As an honest AR with more experience than most COR stores staffs combined, I see people coming in slammed and crammed to the max from COR stores. Most AR stores are the same. Especially Prime. I ask customers if they would like added features. Like a father telling his daughter's boyfriend, "no means no". I get useless training with this week's useless ARSM who is going to change our behaviors. All they do is insult our intelligence. "Use waterfall pricing". Do they really believe themselves? I'd respect them more if they said, "slam them". Come on , you're going to be paying $5 a month for a phone but you need to pay $17 a month for insurance? You're paying $160 a month for 4 with Verizon and want to switch? Here's our best plan, $420 all included. There's actually people in AT&T that believe that will work. It's not even about making the money that comes with that plan or feature, it shows growth in the industry. Stocks go up, execs make more money. And they put pressure on all their underlinks. It's only a matter of time before the whole retail channel, not COR, AR or national are out of business.

It’s funny when you work for AT&T that after one visit to an AT&T store when you went in to get a new phone, you find out in next month’s bill that “somebody just assumed that as an employee that you’d want the very best add-ons naturally” and now your paying for the most expensive Unlimited Plan, Protect Advantage insurance from Asurion and somehow your being charged for DIRECTV streaming… huh. Every customer would benefit from the eStore, just like every AT&T employee figured out after one visit. Crooked VPGMs turn a blind eye and cheer on the biggest and most crooked DOS and ARSM every step of the way.

I work for AT&T and I once went to an AT&T owned wireless store. I left there with several items that "I get" when I bought my phone. They were all crammed items/services. Never again. Last two phones I bought from Wal Mart. No cramming . Sorry but AT&T wireless = FRAUD. There is no other way to say this.

"Remember, we are AT&T, we make simple complicated. "

Truth - had a client once tell me that "you guys could sc--w up a one car parade".

They were probably in Dallas to attend the golf tournament. We are over staff if you take away all the nonsense work being done. We have whole departments dreaming up more and more BS work and then forces it down everybody's throats as SOX compliance. Remember, we are AT&T, we make simple complicated.

I don’t doubt it. Some of the sales teams are way over staffed. Others can’t keep up with the workload.
At some point T will need upper level mgmt with a clue. Right now, this place is run like a start up.
