Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Who else is hoping for layoffs this week?

Being paid to leave while there is a hot job market would be pretty amazing, IMHO.

Sounds like you're getting your wish....we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Having experienced a layoff, I’m not a fan, even with a generous severance package.

Maybe in tech, the market is hot, but in many other areas (like mine) the job market is only mediocre. The stress of a layoff and deadline to accept something new so you have an income isn’t worth the benefit of the severance package!

I hope for it every time there are layoffs - I've been with the company long enough that my severance would be 10 months of pay. I've already started interviewing with other companies, but I'd sure like that extra money.

It worked out well for me. I agree the market isn’t as hot as people want to believe, especially if you are unwilling to go into an office at all. Having said that, double dipping was nice and getting the severance paid out as a lump sum when I got another job was cool. Unfortunately, because of the geriatric in the white house, that big payout (was at WF for 19.5 years) only means I can buy dinner at IHOP to celebrate leaving that dumpster fire.

The job market is actually not as good as rumored. A large part of the elevated job openings numbers are low skilled service sector jobs… for white collar workers it seems like the opportunity set hasn’t changed much.

Me! It is the only way I can leave the position. My spouse is adamant that I stay even if I am miserable and the current role is impacting my mental and physical health. Yes, I understand the situation I am in.

If you were truly capable, you wouldn't have to wait for severance to leave.
