Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Knock Knock Tech Department

Not sure if you've been following the stock market.. but nasdaq and tech is imploding. Soon there will be a massive glut of out of work tech workers. If this place cuts you, you're likely not finding another job paying half your wage and you could be out of work for 3-4 years. I strongly suggest showing up 5 days a week.. forget 3 suggested.

The good times never last.

Tech is relatively safe compared to underwriting, call center, customer service, financial advisor, or verifications jobs. Most of those are ripe for automation in the next handful of years. Guess who will be needed to oversee all of that change? Tech. Guess who will be needed to write algorithms or code for the AI or Automation Program doing it all? Tech.

Sure things like desktop or physical support will be scaled back pretty badly, but that’s a small percentage of tech jobs.

If you're afraid, then you'd better start showing up 5 days a week.

Not only that, you should start wearing a necktie too. Be the first one into the office in the morning, and the last one to leave in the evening.

For good measure, when you get home you should log back on and send at least 1 email to a wide distribution that includes your boss.

This is a re-set away from the new technology jobs created in the pandemic that supported unique needs of the pandemic. The pandemic is over and so are those jobs. normal practices.

Actually, bank stocks are down WAY more than tech stocks. Tech is pretty much tech no matter what the industry. Try getting a banking job outside of a bank.

“WF stock is ready to blast off like a rocket ship with margin expansion”.

Thanks for the laugh, haven’t laughed that much in years.

This obvious Troll doesn't know technology, or any part of its relationship between people working in banks in technical areas vs people who work for a tech giant.. Also, if they actually followed the Nasdaq, they would know that its been on an up and down cycle for about a year and its pretty much exactly where it was a year ago. This does not mean the Nasdaq , or tech is imploding. I got laid off from Wells over a year ago, and at my new job, we can't find enough techs to hire and even if tech "imploded" we would still be hiring technology people. I sympathize with people still working at Wells, moral must be low, but don't kick people when its tough... "you'd better shape up or else" type threats is an unintelligent declaration and would not be tolerated anywhere... perhaps that is why the troll chose to post their lame azz boast here.

lol to the OP troll who is not in tech.. tech skillsets for are completely different in FAANG and banking. Not at all worried about being cut as there are plenty of openings elsewhere.

Based on the number of open positions advertised, Indeed.com disagrees with you.

Let me see if I understand - You’re suggesting that if folks spend significantly more time commuting than required, THAT will keep them off layoff lists? I’m not a tech manager, but I’m a manager. If my folks did that, I’d probably put them ON my layoff list. We’re all in different locations so getting ready for the office and commuting are nothing but a giant time suck and a big hit to productivity.

Pro tip: Don’t quit your day job. You are a lousy troll.

Wrong, he’d rather spend the money on buybacks leaving nothing for anything else

Most the tech headcount here is dismal, the bottom of a dirty barrel. Charlie won't care about badge swipes, guy will just just layoff and replace most of Sauls org. Add to that, WF stock is ready to blast off like a rocket ship with margin expansion, Charlie will have tons of money to hire the best for next to nothing.
