haven't changed my position, but, sure, they can ask you anything they want.
and you can tell them anything you want, doesn't have to based in any fact.

Why don't you ask them when they're going to fire you. Errr, I mean "eliminate your position".
Never tell them the truth. Tell them what they want to hear. Its none of their business when you plan to retire or look for another job.
Odd question to ask usually but managers can see if you're retirement eligible once you've hit your 80 points.
I mean... it's a question, and they can ask it. You can always say 'never' or that you have no idea or that you haven't really thought about it or whatever you like really.

Mine asked. I told him "sometime in the next 10 years". Which technically is true.
But it may have been more truthful to say "June 1st".

Don't think much into it. They are probably trying to staff and budget for their department.
They can, but you're under no obligation to tell them. I wouldn't until you are absolutely positively certain that you're leaving, and that date is relatively soon (like a few months, not years). I have tremendous respect for my manager and my teams, so I would give the manager some advance heads up so that it could be a smooth transition. But I wouldn't tell her years ahead of time.
Yes, they can. But if they do it too often it could be considered harassments or age discriminations.
