Kocevich’s exit was simply planned “retirement.” But then 2008 happened, the bailout and Wachovia, and he stuck around helping JS longer than planned. He was around “unofficially” longer than most people realize, still “working” for Wells…
I was assigned a project - our LOB paid for a long list of cell phones, and we were no longer even sure who they all belongs to. People would leave the company and then pass their company cell on to their friend and it was a huge huge mess. My manager had recently become the new AU Manager, so my task was to figure out which cell phone belonged to whom and cancel the ones that were not legit any longer. After a while, I had it narrowed down to a few unidentified cell phones, but I just couldn’t trace who was using these last few numbers. In frustration I started calling the cell numbers to see who answered to identify them. After calling one of the unidentified lines, I landed on Kocevich’s company-paid admin (who had a company provided cell no less) after it had been announced that Kocevich had fully retired. No joke. Could have picked my jaw up off the floor. She was quite annoyed that I had figured out who she was and that I now knew we were still paying for her cell phone. Ultimately, after some political football, she kept the cell phone in order to continue supporting Kocevich, but our LOB passed off the cost to a different AU.
I kinda liked Kovacevich...don't remember his exit story.

With 15 years you are trying to be sneaky and slide in Kovacevich last year i believe. Depending if you count interim as a real ceo, the number would be 4 or 5.
