Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Verizon’s Merit Increase (PA&Ds) Is A Con

I’m a GM and I was told to change ratings from leading to performing. And most of my reps got exactly the same unless they were seasoned reps, they got less. So the company punished my loyal reps with a lower percentage. I had new reps that are less productive get 4% and veteran reps that carry the store get 2%. Ratings don’t matter I know people got leading and they got a lower raise than employees that got performing. Verizon needs to standardize it’s PA&D program. Since there’s no real standard Verizon is allowed to string us a long for 12 months and then sc--w us at the end. As Managers we don’t even look at the last two months of the year. We submit ratings in October so you can completely suck the last 2-3 months of the year and be fine. Your ratings are already set. And then we do not have any say so on the actual %. So yea the whole process is a sham.

For some reason this company is he-l bent on self destruction. They want to get rid of the last remaining good (tenured) reps they have by forcing them to leave via 1.5% or 2% "raises". It is much cheaper than laying them off and having to pay a severance. This goes for store and customer service reps. This company is set to emplode based on this trajectory. They did it to themselves.

That's so messed up. It's also terrible business ethics and practices. I'm shocked that they would force you to lie about employees performance and sc--w your tenured people that keep your numbers going. Shame on all management that complied too. You owe it to the tenured staff to explain why they are lied to about falling short when in reality they kept your store open and performed to make you and your DM look good. This is an exact example of why this company is changing for the worse.

@zpw+1foMoMUf What does this have to do with workers owning the means of production? Not sure how this is in any way related to socialism - in fact, it is the exact opposite and an example of capitalist exploitation of labor value.

I told my GM straight up I don't care about metrics. The contribution standards do not correlate with your raise. And you can do terrible in metrics and still get a 5 bar contribution. There is NO incentive to sell well. I'm done trying. I will milk my hourly and overtime. I will order take. I will get a 5 bar contribution. And my metrics will be terrible. And end of the year I'll get the same raise. And each month I'll get thr same commission as someone who is overcachieving in their metrics. I'll thank them for increasing my paycheck. This is socialism at its finest.

Who cares the .25 hourly pay increase won’t pay for the massive inflation increase we are having
