Not a good look for Wells Fargo

https://abc7news.com/amp/wells-fargo-zelle-scam-email-bank-of-america-refunds/11578818/

I work for Wells. Generally content with my LOB and longer term outlook of the bank as part of CIB. I do not bank with Wells Fargo. Curious how other employees feel.

I stopped banking with WF years ago when first I realized they monitor employee accounts and secondly the poor service I received from a banking and mortgage perspective. I have no products with WF and I’ve worked for them over 20 years.

C’mon, OP! We’ve never taken care of customers. We’re ra--d, ruined and lies to them for years. We just take care or shareholders and kid DEI freak team members/employees.

After the fake account fiasco and how I see WF operate internally, not only do I not bank at WF, I discourage friends and family from using it too. WF's core business model is drowning you in paperwork in the Hope's that you'll just give up

Zelle is partially owned by Wells Fargo. So there’s no blaming Zelle before blaming Wells Fargo. Also, as the article states, other banks are starting to issue refunds to customers scammed on Zelle. But not Wells Fargo. Wells only makes their customers whole when forced by regulators.

Personally, I opened a free very small account at another bank strictly for my Venmo use. I do not want any “quick-pay app” having access to my larger accounts.

Wells fargo is the only bank that lets The employees check on other employees accounts. NEVER BANK HERE.

I'm a 15 year Wells employee but my only personal account with the bank is our mortgage. All my other personal accounts are with BofA and always have been. I've never intentionally done anything nefarious with my accounts and would never knowingly break any personal banking rules Wells may have for their employees, but I don't want my employer to have direct access and oversight of my accounts.

Way back in the day, a previous manager of mine told me a story about how he had to can an employee who was floating deposited checks in ATMs. Said she was a great employee who was told by a friend if the money would be there when the checks were cashed, they wouldn't bounce so it was no big deal. HR didn't care, said it was an ethics violation, and made him can her.

I never said other banks weren’t targeted. Obviously there is a flaw here industry wide. Simply pointing out it’s disappointing to our customers as a WF employee. Also wondering who the employees of Wells bank with. That’s all.

So scammers only target WF customers and accounts? Blame is very misdirected.

Reading this i would rank the order of blame..

  1. Scammer
  2. Gov't for not using the CFPB and the FBI for going after these guys
  3. Customer for falling for the scam
  4. Zelle, in fact why isn't the title not "Not a good look for Zelle"
  5. WF
