Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I hope it’s true

My manager just said they wont be checking badge swipes and dont care what days I come in. I also just heard their lateral manger say the same. These are both 2 down from Chucky. I hope it stays that way and is true for all departments.

I think the more everyone throws a fit and presses their manager to tell them which days, it may cause them to set standards. Do yourself a favor, chill and let them NOT tell you anything. When they dont and say something, you can say they failed to tell you.

Good luck people!

The info is tracked and made available to managers. It goes at least to OC+1 level and sometimes distributed to OC+2. Whether a specific manger chooses to “do something” with it or not is up to that chain of management.

If OP’s boss says they don’t care/won’t look at it, they will have that discretion as long as orders don’t come from higher…. However, you can be sure that this will be monitored across the company and areas that have poor compliance will definitely hear from the RTO powers that be.

This is the way it was even before COVID/WFH. Badge data was examined and cascaded and if there were issues managers were expected to address it.

But the question is, what do managers have to do with this information? I tend to agree with the poster who said that employees who are high performers are probably fine no matter what they do in most groups, but for people on the bubble managers can use it as evidence for lower ratings and PIPs.

Managers will be getting weekly report of reports not checking into office 3 days week.. so there is no need from them to .. based on badge swipe into office

The report shows currently if you swiped that day or not actually.

Tracking days in the office seems like it could be more of a tool to dismiss for cause vs going the severance route. Employee A is golden in the eyes of management and comes in sometimes but not achieving three days a week...nobody cares. Employee B is on the hit list and is tracked carefully so that person can be kicked to the curb. Who knows.

Piggybacking would imply someone WANTS to be in the office without getting credit for it. Not sure what that has to do with RTO?

It’s really not clear yet whether managers will be required to track this. I suspect that some managers will care a lot, track it really closely, and use it for corrective action. But if Ensor leadership doesn’t force everyone to care, a lot of managers just won’t. So far, no real sign from senior leadership either way.

Piggybackers need to be immediately reported to security. I'm not losing my job because some mo--n decided to leave their badge at their desk or circumvent security.

Not the laptop itself, but where you are signing into your apps from. Unless you can spoof a connection to the LAN, they will know.

"some people intentionally tailgate to try to avoid the badging data"

These sort of people boil my blood. I refuse to be tailgated, I don't care if you're the dang CEO. I'll walk away from the door in another direction before I badge you in. There are policies. There are cameras. These people need to be identified and summarily dismissed.

they absolutely will be tracking badge swipes and logins. badging data is not 100% but, they combine this with login data from AD.

When you login to your laptop from inside of a WF building (wireless or LAN), they know your location based on your IP Address from the AD data.

Citi has been doing this -- space utilization -- for the last 10+ years and they do it by combining badge swipe data with login data. Because, some people intentionally tailgate to try to avoid the badging data. But, little do they know that the login data is the key.

The issue is that CPG is and will be sending out reports to managers so the issue will be if your leadership cares. Few managers do but as it goes up the chain they may. At this point the reports are one swipe only not in and out.

Not sure what group OP is in, but this was also said on a large team meeting for my group. Basically said we are all adults and there are no plans to check in on us. Also said if one week we had to come in 4 days a week, the next week we could come in 2.

This seems to be just a leave it up to us to just abide by things as best as we can.

The badges are always monitored, just depends if they do anything with it.

Get it in writing or it means nothing. Even if your manager is acting in good faith, the firm can always decide later to look at the swipe data retroactively.

It doesn't matter if you have irresponsible management or not.
"Someone" Will be checking those on payroll against swipes and exceptions lists. There will be reports. There will be consequences.

Badge tracking was done pre COVID and if you weren’t in the office “x” number of days you lost your desk and had to go to flex seating. I expect badge tracking to continue as we RTO.

Your manager is either out of the loop, a flat out liar, or looking to get you fired. You will get busted and fired for non-compliance...don't bet your future on the lies of an individual who will profit from your departure!

CPG will need to track badge swipes to prove the need for them to continue existing.

We all should expect badge swipe tracking by CPG. Even if your leaders don’t care, the reporting will rat everyone out. I suspect that over time, there will be slow down of who shows up to the office. It will go from 3 days to 2 days to no days by the end of the year if not before.

OP here. This is what my manager SAID. Who cares how they are literally tracking, know-it-alls? We all know they can track everything. The point is he said he “doesn’t care.”

The problem is Chucky does. So, will there be pressure for sr leaders to do this later? IDK but the less everyone makes a fuss over all these details, the better.

Badge tracking starting April 1st, but employees get to “choose” which three days to be in. I choose all days that don’t end in “y!”

WF is tracing employee location through laptop, not office badge.

All the details have been shared on several Tech, Remote CoP calls, etc.
