I see you and know how hard this is. Especially after today. We can continue to do our best in keeping our children safe as best we can. We know the lack of effort (or none at all) others have put in, means we have to be even more diligent. We stay home and stay home some more. It’s exhausting. The lack of regard from our employer to help us keep our children safe is numbing. Especially for those kids who have high risk conditions. The lack of regard from humans in general, is demoralizing. I feel it too.
You are doing great, the best you can. This is all we have, hang in there.

Being a parent is hard, no doubt, but it is the most important job you’ll ever have. You’ve got to learn how to live for your children and put them first. And if you don’t have a stay at home parent or other adult family member home with them you are putting something else in front of them and that is not right.
@3waj+1fgCAP67, it's a crapshoot. Some folks are asymptomatic, others have mild cases, and others get very sick. Generally the elderly, the obese, and those with underlying conditions have a worse case. But sometimes it can make seemingly random folks very sick. I'm glad your case was mild.

The only thing that proves is that you were lucky. I wouldn’t count on that as this virus is allowed to mutate further.
Wrong…I’m vaccine free and got Covid. It was like having a cold. The longer I stay vaccine free, the more confident I am I made the right decision.

OP here. Haven’t been to Walmart, actually even pre covid. Can’t stand that store. Also all of my groceries are pickups 🙂 and no we haven’t been out to eat since January of 2020.
Surprise, people prioritize things that mean more to them than others. It’s not. Hard concept. I haven’t had covid and neither had my spouse or children. That’s the goal.
Can’t wait until we get a vaccine for children under 5. Instead of a 99.9999% chance of this cohort surviving Covid, we might be able to increase up to 99.99995%. A real game changer!

wait, you keep your kids home to prevent them from something unlikely to affect them ? Unless they're sickly/immunocompromised - there is just no evidence in support of this decision. Daycares are open and available, schools too. No need to isolate kids and deprive them social contact.
Look for employment outside of WF. Many companies put more emphasis on employees and well-being. You have every right to complain, but you also have every right to make a change yourself.
OP probably drags them kids to Costco and Wal Mart all weekend but god forbid they have to work in an office a few days a week.

See, you DO get it but you're letting your angry emotions get the best of you. Whether you can afford it and it closes due to Covid or worker shortage it's no different than not being able to afford it. No childcare is the problem.
And with the rules of supply and demand I expect a lot of people will start moving into the can't afford it group.

Some people are clearly clueless. The issue is not that vaccine isn't available. The issue is the arbitrary rules like quarantine time for toddlers. Fight to remove the rules, they are not needed just like the vaccine.

It’s not an issue of “reliable” childcare. States regulations drive the quarantine requirements. On top of that, many daycares across the country have closed as the great resignation has hit daycares hard. Many daycares have a year plus waitlist. It’s nearly impossible to find a nanny especially if you live in a rural area.
You clearly don’t have a child under five in daycare, or you would understand this.
If you think this post is complaining about child care and going to work, you need to work on reading comprehension… you’re clearly not a parent of those under 5 either.
You all knew RTO was coming. The rules were laid out in Dec/Jan, and you are surprised and upset about what you must now do? Why haven’t you spent the last few months solutioning this situation, whether that is finding a new job, finding a more reliable daycare option, or whatever? This is typical of Chuckie - he sits in his NYC high rise with a bunch of nannies running around to take care of his kids and fu--s over all the working parents (primarily moms) who are trying to juggle it all. So daycare closes. It sucks, but you deal with it. Life goes on. Stop looking for every little thing to complain about. These are first world problems. Most people can't even afford daycare these days.
The big deal is when your daycare closes (over and over) again for ten days at a time because some kid (not yours) got COVID; meanwhile, we are expected to be in the office three days a week. In December and January, our daycare was closed more days than it was open.
Many parents of kids under five were hopeful that once our kids were vaccinated quarantine time would be reduced.

I can understand as I am on the other end almost 65 and husband over 65 we have done all we can do to remain safe. I can't retire until I have Medicare to all who say just quit as Healthcare is expensive. I would feel better with a 4th shot going back but US is not giving them out to us yet. Yes when my kids and grandchildren got the Vaccine I felt so much better. I feel bad that some people don't have the ability to think of others not all families are the same. Yes we are all Nervous out going back as we know some people just don't care .
I've always said this country doesn't care about kids. Look at the shambles of an education system we have. Look at the g-n violence statistics for children. Look at the poverty rate. Yet we call ourselves a developed country.
I empathize with parents facing the latest way we disregard children's lives and well-being, I'm just not surprised by it.
My child is 3 and high risk too. If a pulmonary specialist tells you to keep you kid home from daycare… you bend over backwards to do what you have to do. I wish others would help the vulnerable children in their community… the kids did it for the elderly people when they were most at risk….we owe it to them

I have been struggling with the news this week. There are no precautions. They could add plexiglass walls, assigned seating, etc. nothing. My child is high risk and I am depressed thinking about going to an office with such lack of care for people. It’s really hard, when I do not work with anyone at this location. Drive to the rat ho-e to get on the phone. It makes no sense!!! Wells is definitely not a best place to work.
It is a rough day. I’m really hoping the new data is here before we know it and looks good. I need to be able to take my kids out to play.
