You don't need to work in an office to excel.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Not at this he-l ho-e. I’m not from JPM, so advancement won’t happen.
I would like to switch positions and make more money. I am in a non-hub location and opportunities are limited. RTO isn't going to change that but change is constant in this company so I am keeping my eyes and ears open for a better opportunity.
If “moving up” is managing, then no. I Jeff left management here a few years ago and am not missing that life. Desire to move to other roles? Sure. And I’ve actually done it during this pandemic wfh, no problem. I’ve still never met my boss or their boss in person.
Your point?
For people who are in non-hub locations, opportunities to move up are limited. For people who will now be commuting to branch offices, those opportunities are also limited. I was only able to advance further in my career when I applied for jobs reporting to a manager offsite. A lot of groups have people who work in various locations, which throws the whole “better together” argument out the window. Long ago, when I was working with people on-site, most people still stuck to messaging and phone calls for work-related topics. The conversations that took place around the coffee areas pertained more to gossip, and discussions I didn’t want to be a part of.
Absolutely not. I have a life.
