Applied For Role - Contact HR or Recruiter?

I applied for a role which is outside of my team and department. Any advise whether I should contact HR or recruiter and reiterate my strong interest in the role? How does this work - Does internal candidate get preference or external hire (granted they are superior and have skillsets to do the job)?

Any insight or guidance is appreciate.

FFS; it's advice not advise. Two different words. Don't know what the role is but you're not qualified.

Just apply for the job. If you’re in a non-hub, you’ll probably have to move to a hub by a certain date if you get it.

always best to control your own fate. good luck when you are depending on others you dont know. important you work on your confidence or no one will hire you. plus you need to have some kind of motivation to do more and be more.

glad I got a new job at $280k; always low balled in these roles, took a year to find the job even, remember patience is a virtue

If you move forward, they'll likely require you to move to one of the locations listed with the job

It’s more dependent on the hiring manager and your potential manager in the role and what other applications they get. I wouldn’t say there’s always preference for internal or external from what I’ve seen. Also, whether you should reach out to the recruiter for me depends on how long ago you applied. They are backed up in some areas, so if you just barely applied I’d wait a bit.

Recruiting is most definitely a part of HR. I think it's really just up to fate now. If you know the hiring manager you could reach out. If you don't though, I'm not so sure. Sometimes the key witf just getting the dirt phone interview with the HR recruiter is due to a screen scrape or key words on your resume. The recruiters do go through quite a bit of resumes, but they may interview 10-20, but then only push forward about 5 from then on to the "real" interview.

HR doesn’t have anything to do with recruiting. If you can find it, contact the recruiter for that specific position. But they get sooo many apps, who knows if it will do any good. Some roles are only posted internally, or posted internally first and if they don’t get a candidate they like, it’s opened up to external applicants. Other than that, I haven’t seen any preference for internal vs. external candidates.
