Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

In our department Attrition is Up due to RTO and Management is Concerned

We were asked informally how we feel about it. I suspect they are having trouble filling all of the open positions because we are not competitive due to RTO. So net-net we're losing existing employees with RTO specifically cited as the reason, and all of the other pre-existing open positions aren't getting filled due to not having a WFH option. It's destroying the group's ability to get work done thus leading to conversations among management about pulling back on RTO. I didn't say anything but I am one of the people on the team who is looking for another job that will allow WFH. I know I'm not the only one.

Attrition (at no cost to the company) is their goal. I refuse to leave.

My co-worker left not long ago. The replacement is going to be a long wait.

Everyone at the bank I know is actively looking for a new job outside of WF. From LOBs to Technology.

All of this is part of the plan so they can have a public excuse to hire another 30k off shore workers who don't complain about RTO and will do your job for 1/3 the cost. Eventually the work hours will change to India time so USA work will start at 8pm in order to accommodate the workers Wells Fargo is REALLY trying to make happy.

This will end predictably. Certain groups will be able to WFH, because the labor market will force it to be so. For people that the company can abuse with RTO without the labor market pushback they will mercilessly enforce it, then pat themselves on the back for such a successfully executed idea. Long run, that too will fail, but current leadership isn't worried about the long term. They'll sc--w things u....errr....turn things around for 3-4 more years and then go away.

Fu-k RTO. DO NOT GO IN. Send these out of touch geriatrics in management a message. They have no playbook for non-compliance. They are wishing upon a star that people will simply cave into their senseless demands and return to the way things have always been. If you are a lemming and play along you have only yourself to blame. Again, they have no playbook. DO NOT GO. FU-K FU-K FU-K RTO!!!

Management theme song should be Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi": For those not familiar, the primary refrain is "Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you got till it's gone"!

I went in one day last week, went home and applied to an external position that is 100% remote. I have the first round interview next week and no plans to RTO at this point.

Same here.

Applied for a role at another bank with no connections, and received an enthusiastic call back for an interview.

We've been saying this for a while now on this board. By the time attrition gets to be too problematic, management will have little/no options to stop the bleeding.

RTO truly makes no sense at all. Nearly everyone who's being honest hates RTO. It's that simple. When you hate your surroundings all day, what quality and quantity of work is getting done?

Even before COVID, things were gradually getting to be more and more WFH. Spare us the argument of "this is how it always was!". No it wasn't, and even if it was, so what? As a society, we used to do all sorts of things that we no longer do. Change/progress is an unavoidable part of life. COVID forever changed how people work.

To the bootlickers that say 'get a new job!', many of us are doing just that, but at the same time, if everything else is fine at work, why let an out-of-touch executive (that won't even be here in 5 years) make a bad decision that ruins it for everyone else?

It's good to be vocal. Don't let up, people.

I was so annoyed after my first week of RTO that I came home and applied for two jobs. I have interviews for both of them. Both are remote. I didn’t have any inside connections at either place, just applied on the website. It’s never been this easy to leave.

informally or formally, upper management is not going to change their RTO stance because the employees don't like it.... Charlie and crew want what they want and sending the message clearly down their mgmt streams to us.
