March Pulse Survey

I was randomly selected for the March Pulse survey. I am tearing them up, not that it will have any impact, but I have already written several paragraphs. I highly encourage everybody who got it to do the same thing, this is one way to get our voices heard. If you didn't get the survey, but had an option to voice your opinion on our work environment, what would you say? Obviously, RTO is the big one.

I led some focus groups after the last Gallup survey to help develop some action plans. Obviously RTO was a huge issue. When my team took the results back to our manager, we were told to leave out the RTO stuff. They said that RTO wasn't going to change and there was no reason to include it. That told me everything I needed to know about how those surveys work. They only care about the comments that they want.

Your responses are absolutely not anonymous. I know several people who were contacted by HR after giving honest feedback that raised concerns. One of them even said to HR that they had serious concerns that HR is misrepresenting these surveys as anonymous. So beware!

@uly+1fTvfrXd Sums it up exactly l. I am going to copy/paste exactly this post into my comments. I encourage all to do the same and add to it if they have other things to say. A mass, bullseye response like this should give them pause. Strength in numbers, people!

I also know someone who was contacted after “telling it like it is” in one of these surveys. They say the responses are anonymous, but if you say something that concerns them, they can find out who filled out the survey and they WILL contact you!

@qft+1fTvfrXd - What did you provide for feedback that triggered the call from ER? They generally don’t give a sh!t about employee concerns, so it’s surprising they would call you.

I just said “don’t force RTO”

I tore them up about RTO on one of these this summer and didn’t hear a thing about it. It couldn’t hurt for them to have this reiterated though.

Stop cutting resources, adding work and expecting me to make up the difference by working night and day. I have had it with getting yelled at for one late or undone thing while failing to be recognized for the dozens of things accomplished against all odds.

My guess is those things are not entirely anonymous and it really depends on if you answer questions in a way that represents a serious liability.

I recently left and the "exit interview" is just an online survey and I was very honest. One of the questions was to select the 3 things you were most dissatisfied with and for one of them I checked "manager". That opened a box for more comments and I'm sure the content of that gets evaluated to determine if a liability exists. I made it clear that it wasn't something personal with my manager but rather the d-mb a-s decisions being made starting with my manager and all the way up from there. At the very end of the survey it disclosed that the intent is to be anonymous but your responses could change that.

Bottom line, I think you can answer honestly and expect it to be anonymous unless you say something that makes them worry about your wellbeing.

I gave my full and honest opinion on a Pulse survey…and had Employee Relations set up a follow up call with me about a month or so later. Totally out of the blue. It felt more like a “do we have to be worried about you?”call than any sort of disciplinary potential. So yes, people definitely read these things!

I would focus strictly on RTO.

Yes, other things could be improved but complaining about too many issues will dilute the urgent need for RTO to be scaled back.

And/or desperate leadership will perform verbal acrobatics to say something like "Oh look, RTO is just one of many concerns. People just think they hate RTO when it's really some other problem".
