Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Grass isn’t greener.

I left 6-7 months ago. Was super stressed out. Store was short staffed. Couldn’t see on the other side or think straight due to being over worked, overwhelmed. I had to leave for my own mental health.

Word of advice for those of you who may be thinking of leaving. Don’t.

You just need your fire lit again. Try a new channel. Get out of the rut. Change roles. Start working towards something.

Use the job as leverage. It’s so hard to find jobs these days that aren’t bs.

Good luck.

OP keep getting down voted but they're right. I left retail for another channel (non customer facing in any fashion) and I'll tell you it feels like a completely different company. Retail is treated completely different from the rest of the company. When I say retail, I mean all channels related - telesales, in store, customer service, etc.

Use tuition assistance, you don't even have to have completed the degree before landing an entry level role within the company. I hadn't completed mine before landing my current job and I'm wholeheartedly happier than I was in retail.

You would have to be crazy to take advice from someone who claims they this place overwhelmed and over worked them so much that it destroyed your mental health and you still want to come back! You are either insane or this is a pi-s poor, not too bright, attempt from HR to make people stay.

I see far more down voting from the other side. Did you all learn how to down vote in flagger class?

@2wgm+1fSbZ56b, you're absolutely right. That's why we need to transition to contractors. That way we're only paying for when they're actually valuable to us.

on any given day a pole m0nkey requires more skill than a rep standing on solid ground in a temperature controller store.

after a hurricane and utilities are down, who are considered more essential? a pole m0nkey or a rep pushing insurance and a $50 phone charger?

@2snt: it's because retail clerks, pole monkeys, and call center reps are all you ever hear from. They're so loud and annoying, and they rarely have anything constructive to add to the conversation.

retail clerk is the most common job and also the only one that requires no real skills. SM and DM are the babysitters of clerks and also a job that require no skills unless k1ss1ng a-$-$ is considered a skill.

other jobs in wireless include technical jobs that maintain the physical network. that requires actual skills.

Why does everyone think the only job in wireless is a retail clerk? That is like saying the only job in wireline is a union pole monkey.

Can confirm, TMobile has higher starting base pay, individual commission and the same Benny's. Had several new hires leave to tmobile after they got Verizon experience. Odd times we are in.

Work for wireless. No contracts needed for regular 4 to 7 percent annual raises!

"2023 can't get here fast enough."

Absolutely correct...Need to get signed off on the new 5 year contract with the expected pay raises.

They have ripped every aspect of this job that made it what it was. Commission is nuked but they still act like we get paid on our efforts. It's going to be interesting to see the mass exodus in a few months at best from stores and especially telesales with the compensation changes. Going to hurt the most for the guys and gals on the phone. I imagine retail will make a tiny bit less every month but telesales is taking a several thousand dollar a month cut. Good luck.

Lol. At the end of the day it was much needed. Everything happens for a reason. Hindsight is 20/20 so it’s always easier to look back and think otherwise.

But anywho, that message was to the folks on the fence who may have lost their fire, passion, desire.

I believe in you, you still have it. Just gotta go get it back. 💪
