Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Turnover is high for a good reason

If anybody wonders why turnover is so high, here are just a few reason off the top of my head:

  • Management chooses favorites, screws over everybody else
  • There is little to no room for advancement
  • Hours are bad and work/life balance is non-existent
  • Work culture is horrible

And on and on.

I'm also with Legal and as mentioned turnover is high. I have been with the staff counsel office a little over 3 years and have seen 8 attorneys come and go, some not even lasting a year. Work is loaded on to the ones still there and they are slow at getting replacements. Their technology and equipment is out dated and constantly breaking down and they refuse to replace. Training is non existent and put on the employee's to create jobs aids and a training plan all while having a work load of 2-3 people. Lead counsel turns a blind eye to complaints of lower management. There isn't any coaching of employees not "performing". Their transformative growth and continuance improvement is a joke. Getting promoted is an act of congress even when you are out performing your peers. Raises are a joke no matter how hard you work, volunteer for projects and take on additional duties. I'm sick of Allstate, I have been for years and am currently looking elsewhere.

It’s not that Allstate has gone woke or whatever that means to scared white people. Allstate knows they’d have to pay more to the whites and so they tour their diverse work culture when it’s all part of their plan to compensate their employees - and policy holders/claimants - as little as possible.

Sounds like “transformative growth” is the new “continuous improvement.”

Management always running these BS scams to weed out the non-servile.

They made you take a freaking video game to see if you had “skills of the future” and to determine whether you could stay. Not sure what else needs to be said. There is zero advancement potential and the MRR is very unfair and quite frankly, a tactic to underpay you. I just left the company and weight has been lifted for sure. Get out while other companies are hiring at great salaries.

I see the broken Elvis Presley record is still here bemoaning equal access to opportunity for the 70 percent of the population that is not white male.

Maybe someday he will sp-t that hook. It is funny how he ignores women as part of the diversity objectives. Gives insight to his thinking.

Depends on area I guess. Our area has a lot of good happy people. Well compensated, good fair leaders, great work/life balance. I don't get how anyone can complain about work/life balance when you work from home. It seems most areas outside of claims are not nearly the disasters claims are. It is just that claims seems to have this biggest footprint here.

H1-B visa workers.

When they say American all resigned, there is labor shortage -
When less than 55% American graduates finding a job within 6 months.

I'm in Legal, so can only speak for that department, but the turnover is through the roof and has been happening for years, long before COVID and TG. People are leaving for more pay and less work, more pay and the same work, or same pay for similar or less work. See the thread? We pay less and demand more than the competition.

We can't even get attorneys with experience in civil litigation/insurance defense to work for us anymore. Everyone in the field knows how bad things are at Allstate, so they don't even bother applying. Now we have all these new attorneys with no relevant experience working for us and we're dumping a sh-t-ton of work on them (which is going about as well as you'd expect).

Oh and the cherry on top of the sh-t sundae is that they're now offering this "bonus" program for Legal employees if the company customer base grows by 2% in 2023! Of course we don't sell insurance, don't set rates, don't handle claims, so tell me why this is supposed to be exciting for us? How about creating a bonus system based on our actual work and factors that we control.

And they try to make this transformative growth bull$H1t seem like it’s a good thing.

HR also has the policy of favoring in hiring of diversity clients, instead of the best qualified. Equal Opportunity doesn't seem to apply here at all. So if you happen to be white with 5 years experience and approaching middle age, don't bother applying. Allstate has gone woke and it shows with the turnover.
