Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Asking for feedback.

I’m currently waiting for possibly two offers from WF. I work for a competitor currently. I got sick of doing my managers job for 2+ years without their title or pay. Not a thank you, or a reasonable raise.

What can you all share? I want the good, bad, and ugly. Does WF offer any flexibility? Do they follow a hybrid model? Benefits?

Please share any and all insight, it’s appreciated more than you know.

Remote is disappearing but not for established favorites. If you are in a hub, or a new hire it's different. Hubs do not have assigned desks-you are on a bench desk side by side with random people on an unreserved, first come basis with a tiny locker at the end of your row. No privacy and you are within 3 feet of the next person.

The only issue I see is that there is always the pending doom of a layoff. It knows no boundaries as all divisions have experienced this. I happen to like working here. It is the best employment I have ever had. A lot of people have left on their own. It has both pos and neg effects. If you like work, there is plenty here at WF.

Some teams are good, but if you get on a not so good team, there could be job hoarding, lack of info sharing and back stabbing. Many managers are inexperienced and HR is not your friend.

If you haven’t noticed yet, there are a tremendous amount of adult children who cry incessantly about RTO in this org.

You'll need to wait a year to be eligible to get the 401K match, and then wait until Dec 30/31st in THAT year to get it. So if you are hired this month, you'll get the match as of the time you were eligible (I think- check the Handbook) around Dec 30th 2023. A lot can happen in that time.

I would urge you to do your homework--and agree with others that if you are on this site, you might be getting a sense of what you'll encounter.
I've worked for WF a long time and planning my retirement --otherwise I would be actively job hunting. I love my job but cannot stand the management.
I wouldn't encourage anyone to work here now.

@wmq+1fQggx1j here. By all means, if offered a job here, accept it. Your comment back to me shows your level of (lack thereof) reading comprehension makes you a perfect candidate to work here.

What @1xad+1fQggx1 said.

I’m a long time team member…er…employee…er…cult member. I’ve been multiples places in the company over those years. It is colored a lot by which group you are with. I was completely miserable in one group and switched departments and was quite happy for a while. Then switched again. They do pay well compared to other jobs, but the raises are piddly. Negotiate on your way in and it helps a lot. I know several who went to BofA and came back again. If you end up with a great manager and can put up with the corporate bs, lack of care, and RTO, you’ll be fine here. I could have left, but I chose to stay because I like my manager and like my team.

Research the hiring manager, if they ever worked for Chase you will be in the same boat doing their work.

I think it’s 4 weeks pto to start, then moves to five weeks after 5 years. 13 holidays and 2 personal days.

6% matching 401k payable once a year at end of year. Must be present to win.

Bonus paid in Feb, if job is bonus eligible, again must be employed to receive one.

Just started RTO and yes, currently in hybrid model. Rumor mill says moving to 5 days a week in future for certain LOB.

I have a friend in fraud. She enjoys it, has a good team. I’ve worked here for double digit years. No complaints, enjoy my team. Enjoy my work. Deal with normal corp bs just like any large company. CEO makes too much, we make too little.

My managers have always been fair and flexible. Maybe luck of the draw eight times, or the two LOB’s i’ve been in? Hear the horror stories on here and some are just polar opposite of what i’ve experienced over the years, so not sure how many are true.

If you think about this from all the negative feedback...they are still here so it can't be that bad. Most of your experience will be based on the particular LOB and your manager.

I have worked at other FIs--the other big Charlotte bank and a niche card player from Richmond. When I joined WF 10 years ago, it was substantially better, but it really seems to have stagnated over time. It will vary quite a bit by group and the manager you have, but I can't say that this place is generally better than the rest of the industry.

Do you believe if we tell you see the violation records of Wells Fargo : Federal Asset Cap, Consent Orders, C&D, harrassment lawsuits, financial fraud, embezzlement. Wells Fargo ship jobs offshore and layoffs while CEO and management group collect fat bonuses and raises during pandemic slump. These are systematic problems from the top down across Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is desparate for new hires from rival banks so their pay generous to get you join the cult. Wells Fargo is going to crash because the management of fools. What appeals you about Wells Fargo?

If you can get hired here you can get hired somewhere that isn’t stuck in the eighties.

It’s by far the worst of the big banks. I’ve worked for them all.

It all depends on the group you land in. It could be the worst of the stories here, it could be the best of the stories here. You'll know after you start.

I would agree with your statement. I have a friend who works for WF who only says great things, stating this is the best place they’ve ever worked.

Needless to say, I would never say such a thing about the competitor I work for. Hence, why I came here to get real perspective.

I think the negative commentary responses about asking a simple question about how people really feel about the ORG tells me what I need to know. I applied for fraud, thanks!

@ @wmq+1fQggx1j I actually am “that serious”. I don’t have a rich mommy and daddy to pay my entire way through school to get one of those “good” jobs you mention. Which is why I’m in the financial services industry to begin with. If I could afford it, I would’ve done that by now.

Would help to know what type of role and/or the LOB you are looking to get into. Perspectives will vary wildly across divisions. Also going to a site that is inherently negative towards the company will yield you very few positive comments. Finally, since it is an anonymous site, you have no clue if the info you are being given is totally correct or false. Good luck in your decision, but basing anything from here is likely a waste of time.

OMG - Fight for what you want/need in the company where you are currently. You don’t want to be part of this awful place.

You can't be that serious; run away as fast as you can. Most dysfunctional place I have ever experienced in the last 2+ years (been here going on 20-close to retirement only reason still here). Executive and Senior 'leadership' can't stop tripping over their own feet. Attrition is out of control. Workloads are unrealistic (feast of fathom) and there is no apparent comprehensible strategy for any process. Place is a complete manure show.

Get a good job; like piano player at a house of ill repute before working here,

Did you read any of the prior posts on this board OP? This is a layoff/gripe board. I’ll level set you, thought. Wells Fargo is a corporate pyramid scheme designed to suck labor and innovation away from the bottom rungs to make short term profits to enrich shareholders and executives. Don’t accept the job. I would run.
