I just love how on our all hands calls the higher ups have pushed RTO so hard yet they are on video showing their offices the size of an apartment!! (With a door) They have a long table, plus another seating area and guess where most of us are? In the neighborhood with people on calls and talking about sports and we can’t even concentrate. If I had an office like them then yeah, might be different. They need to be in touch with US!! The employees in the trenches making them rich.

You are spot on! I worked in Marketing for 10 years and the last two to three (before I moved on last year) were the worst.
No critical thought encouraged or appreciated, even if someone was sincerely trying to be constructive.
Just agree with the leader of the group and you'll be golden. Jump on board even when the direction changes without a real explanation besides "This will be better" said in a condescending manner.
In my group the Thurs-Friday before everything shut down for COVID, the leader of our group honestly told us not to worry about COVID, this person was still taking the train into work and no one should be worried. Uh-huh....Um, Wells Fargo doesn't get to tell me what to be worried about regarding a deadly virus. And then less than a week later everyone was working from home.
This same SVP also is a total micromanager. Needs to see everything the team of 20 or so is working on before it can be approved. Even if you're just swapping in updated disclosures , no other change to the item which was not yet up for re-review.
In short:
Do what I say, put on a happy face and don't ask questions or they will think you are d-mb and they won't even have the courtesy to engage.
And I don't trust you to do even the most basic things.
Exec's are usually located near other exec's and not near the riff-raff (aka people who do actual work).
Or the execs are seen hobnobbing with others without masks and with no social distance while at WF facilities, but yet the peeps in the cubicles still have to mask up...

Also, don't forget that the managers get the desks that adjust for standing or seated while we get cr-p. Guess ergonomics and health don't count for us.
That’s how it is in our marketing group. The ones with the big grins all have doors that shut, and dog help the rest of us if we don’t smile and act all thrilled and excited to be back. Fake is the name of the game.
Before you ask, I have a couple of irons in the fire. Fingers crossed.
