Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Rumor has it, in few months there will be fulltime RTO no hybrid model

So the news been circling, the hybrid 3 days a week is just temporary then will be phased out in the few upcoming months to be back to Charlie’s original 5 days a week in the office. He said he’d have us 8 days a week if he could!
Some folks enjoy BDSMing the living heck if others lives!

I wont be surprised if this happens as we all know Charlie is a man of ego and only cares about his one way style of doing things, or the highway! However I read in the hybrid model announcement that this model has been designed to also support the environmental commitment Wells Fargo had to save the plant and all the bs marketing.
But again I won’t be surprised if all this becomes a thing of the past and changes, as it seems the current board members and their guy want to do things they believe in, disregarding what employees opinions, they don’t care if they are happy or comfortable or uncomfortable, it’s one way employer employee relationship, you take it or leave it. The firm… modern day legal slavery!

The thing is, even before COVID, few people were coming in 5 days a week. I read in one CPG report that 1/3 of the seats in downtown SF were empty on any given weekday, and it was even higher on Fridays. This is especially true for senior leaders. It was a ghost town at 550 California on a typical Friday. I don’t see how you change that.

We do the same thing in Chandler for my team of 12.

HR is one notch above CPG in usefulness. Still basically useless for getting anything done.

HR does a good job and is a good advocate for employees. I think HR is the unsung hero at Wells Fargo.

Tracking who badges in isn't going to work.

My little team has a rotating schedule where every week a different one of us is designated to carry everyone elses badge and "badge in". During that week we refer to that person as "Buckey". As in Buckey the "Badger" (it's a Wisconsin thing).

Very possible that they're planning to use this as a way to get rid of remote people "for cause" and thus avoid severance.

Very possible.

We already know that they don't want remote people.
We already know that they want everyone concentrated in the smallest number of physical locations.

So finding out "who isn't badging in" is a great way for them to "solve" both problems.

If you can force yourself to think like a criminal psycho, it kind of makes sense that they'd do that.

don't get wrapped around the axle on this rumor. going "back" to a 5 day a week in office company-wide would require a complete turnaround in the physical property strategy and expense. that's not going to happen.

that's not to say that some groups won't mandate it. From the beginning, all of powell's emails have said that different groups may have different requirements - up to and including - full in-office.

@mwt We dont badge out where I work. All they can see is that I came in and would have to use my laptop data to know where I was. I could leave my laptop in a focus room and be gone for hours. How would “they” know if my manager stays in the dark? I have no plans on doing that but it’s doable. They want me in a particular site so bad but guess what? It’s full of restaurants, spas, nail salons, etc. Maybe I’ll have a “me” day if they annoy me too much.

“Yes I was in an HR meeting today and mandatory 5 days a week in office along with monitored badge access is coming. Will be reporting to ensure compliance including badge in and out times.”

So are you inHR, or in another line of Hines, but in an HR related meeting? Just trying to confirm which groups this might apply to.

Is this HR and leadership’s response to high attrition and difficulty in hiring for many positions? (Sarcasm intended)

Place your bets now. If the overlords are correct and 5d onsite make the company most efficient and productive, then buy low now.

But if the world's eyes are open as to who's really needed in these urban buildings and suburban campuses to optimally operate, then get ready for the markets to clobber those firms who imagine nothing but the in-house model.

So if we are returning to a 5-day in the office routine, what was the point of neighborhood seating? Just go back to assigned seating since you now need a desk for everyone.

Besides, if I have an assigned seat, I can have family pictures and decorations, and spend less time cleaning, disinfecting, getting stuff out of lockers every morning.

Why did we do this seating change if everyone is to come in 5 days??

I suppose one good thing is to keep changing where you sit each day to confuse your manager.

The only other good thing I can think of, is to find a nice window seat, set up there, and just say your neighborhood is full. Who will know? Since seats change everyday, no one will know if you belong there or not.

This whole musical chairs thing is depressing.

At this point WFH is not covid related. It is more about life work balance. Ppl already do not want to join this company when they hear that wfh is not encouraged/allowed. Is this the way to bring new blood that will not stay here for long b/c other companies offer better setup/$$/opportunities?

I'm listening to the CIB Open Q&A webcast right now (3/16/22 @10am pst). John Weiss and operating committee confirmed the goal is 5 days a week in office. Granted he did say that different groups will gave to adapt to fit functional roles and business needs, but it was apparent their stance is that our best work is done in office.

You know what else is 'never meant to be permanent'? This executive team. Their reign will end, and hopefully sanity will return.

I know several groups that do this. They had one in Shoreview when I had traveled there, and Des Moines and Chandler both have several areas where people have game boxes setup.

I'm currently sitting next to a guy who brings his Xbox in to work and plugs it in to his second screen in the office. He has assigned seating and plays his games about 4 hours a day. Then he does just enough work to stay of the sh*t lists in the other 4 hours.

Currently we lack the seats, which is why it's hybrid. I've heard CPG is in process of acquiring more real estate to fit everyone in on-site.

I would not be surprised at all. I’ve heard rumblings of that too. Ending by Memorial Day. Wfh hybrid is temporary. Never meant to be permanent. Once mask & testing is no longer required there is no basis for wfh. I hope not but we will see

None of the locations have enough capacity. All the unassigned seating areas are set to ~75% capacity for the people aligned to them. With a required 3 days per week in the office, there will be at least 1 day when everyone will have to be in the office and 25% of them will have no seat. The whole Flex seating concept and planning factors was created when there was a 35% occupancy rate and no genius updated the figures....welcome to the Thunder Dome.

Okay, so 120k and why not? The point is to resolve the very issues we all complain about on this board. Do we have good benefits and decent pay? Sure but the promotions this year while our CEO gets a 20% hike on top of his zillion dollar salary? This article specifically calls us out and during the sales scandal, so many bankers said they were retaliated against/not believed. The process amounts to the employees voting after selecting a committee. This is easier than trying to knowledge check our way through an annual training course. LOL WTH are we waiting for?!?

The dude believes in one size fits all, he doesn’t care, people will have to figure it out. His Friend in goldsman just announced his intention to have everyone back 5 days! All they care about is there control and real estate failing investments.
It’s always like that starts with one then the fire runs in the hay stack
