I hope she has other women in her group who will support her.
I can personally speak to gender bias at WFA. I found it difficult to escalate because I was raised with the “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you” philosophy. And the men who are discriminating against us are decent in other ways, so it gets muddy. But the hand that is feeding us is feeding us less than our male counterparts and giving us less advancement opportunities for equal or better work.
Wells Fargo says they have equal pay for equal jobs, but the pay ranges are so wide within each category that their is too much room for abuse.
Additionally, 3 years ago - a woman in my department did raise a complaint against one of our male managers. The current process is outsourced and has poorly trained people involved. The information leaked immediately, the boys banded together and the women who were questioned feared for their jobs and supported the male manager. The woman lost and was villainized for the rest of her employment.
