Dreading going back to an office

My office is the most homophobic, racist, and bigoted place I’ve ever worked. I would love to go back but to another office, preferably somewhere outside of my state. Everyone one hates the other, it’s ridiculously uncomfortable. The excuse my direct report told me is their from a poverty background and they don’t know any better. They’re not children, as this make them out to be. They’ve just been getting away with it for too long. I really wish I was in the union to fight this but I’m not. Would I be wasting my time reporting to HR?

Also they didn’t say the company is racist but they’re office is racist. It appears they’re talking about POC being racist against other POC and whites.

“ A person brags about being light skinned from the Caribbean, while hating on black people to Spanish and white, and hating on white people to black” said here @5lby+1fGD10b8

@dpyr+1fGD10b8 Weak argument! You’re using the same logic as, “I can’t be racist, I’ve got black friends”

I call BS. If it’s happening it could have been recorded and reported already. This company is overly supportive of trans and ho-------l or all the other se-ual preferences there are these days. As for the racism…take a look at the amount of African American women and men in high positions. Quit it.

@3hgd+1fGD10b8 What do you want? A v code? Enterprise ID? I wont even say the office nor will I give anything identifying. If my office is full of hateful racists, so be it. It’s for me to report to HR if I feel the need.

Some examples of what is seen.

A person brags about being light skinned from the Caribbean, while hating on black people to Spanish and white, and hating on white people to black. Another person retaliated against another for not being the right skin color. Ignorant conversations about race, gender, se-ual orientation and class. It’s vile and shouldn’t be tolerated. It’s like walking into a role reversed 1950’s. It’s trashy when white people do it and it’s trashy when POC do it.

Post ID: @OP+1fGD10b8 Your post is so vague you clearly don’t work for Verizon and your post is made up bs just to stir up a false narrative.

2irm old school is best. When I have a problem I group text or group email both my supervisor and my union steward. I never talk to one without the other.

I don't wanna return to the office either, for what?, the job is being done with the same results in the comfort of our very own homes. I think it's ridiculous to return us. Look what's happening now on those subway's in NYC. When they do decide to return us, watch that absence rate go from 30% to 65%. They're ALWAYS making poor decisions. Why not let whoever wants to return, go back and whoever wants to stay home, keep working from home? It's so easy but those overpaid high management and VP's are just so damn d-mb.

I am a union member and trust me it is no better . Remember something they teach you in training document it or it never happened , do it the old fashioned way , buy yourself and old fashioned day planner and every time something happens put down on that day the date the time who was involved and what you did to try and resolve it . if you email someone about it bcc yourself a copy of the email that you send to your supervisor and if they don’t resolve it go to HR . If that does not work file an EEOC complaint and get a right to sue letter . Trust me those get the attention of the company , once you open up your case with the EEOC if they do anything else you than can file retaliation charges with the same case . bury them in paperwork and again keep your notes in your own day planner that belongs to you and not the company . but create the paper trail with the emails showing you gave the company the opportunity to resolve it and they ignored it . This has been an ongoing issue with Verizon and trust me the EEOC well aware of their Bully tactics and the way they exclude people and they do not include all people and are not inclusive . CYA and file the EEOC and make them answer for their actions

I haven't seen anyone talk to anyone in the office in a decade except a few clicks that hang out and just gab about nonsense like playing tennis this weekend and do nothing. Most people were just working and talking to people in other locations which I'm sure now will be blue jeansing with people in other locations instead.

I know what you’re talking about. It’s odd because I’ve always considered myself an ally so it’s tough. It’s the worst part of my office since you’re shamed for being who you, blatantly and in the open. Only thing keeping me is I enjoy what I do and can’t imagine it being like that elsewhere in the company. Though I’m having doubts about that after reading this.
