Local markets were given a goal to eliminate 20% of their workforce. Some areas saw a 40% reduction in order to keep other areas untouched. Associates upto the Director level were randomly selected to keep the lawsuites at bay. However, from Directors up, they were recommended by local leaders. If you team was affected between 20 to 40% in this round you should be good until next year. However, if your team was not do not wait for the last minute to get an exit strategy. Moreover, Elevance will continue to expand by acquiring other companies, and these companies come with people that maybe cheaper in salary than what they paying you. Right sizing the work force will be a process that will never go away. Lastly, I was rifed too, after they brought me from another market to assist with the rif. The second wave is not in November, or January. The second wave will be dictated by local plans financial performance, and how that amounts to the national plan. It is not the profits. It is the profits for each share holder. As of today, the next Rif is scheduled for NOV, if the numbers are below certain treshhold. Also by eliminating personal you do away with Salaries, benefits, Bonuses and stock options. It is not just the employee is the financial impact of each person. The goal is 20% of the workforce to make margins work. Title changes and re organization will be the new theme in upcoming months. I hope this helps.
Quality side announced massive layoff on 9/21 (terminations since no one is ever brought back to work). The company is known to force current employees with up to 38 years tenure to train offshore workers to replace them and has done it once again.
Associates made suggestions for automation common sense should have told individuals once automated you would not be needed. Remaining jobs done on U.S soil are be sent to your fellow associates offshore who process claims for $1.60 hr vs $20 plus an hour. Companies in the U.S need to wake up a day will come when we are the third world country when your childrens children are age seven instead of going to school they will be going to work on the field to help feed the family no roof to keep rain off of them at night or food to eat.
I was let go Aug 25 along with many long time associates anybody who's been there any amount of time knows that in October they always let people go then they simply do not return after Thanksgiving. It's all about greed.
Where are people getting their info that more layoffs are coming? I'm just curious how people could know given how secretive they made this first round of lay offs.
Same here. I know of many Indians who were impacted. Young and old alike.
Being Indian or non-Indian doesnt make it eligible for layoffs. I am an Indian and I was laid off too. Humble request to not discriminate
Those reporting more waves to come in the next few months — where are you getting your info from? I believe you, just trying to figure out my chances.
how many rouge analytics teams are there ? how many people tracking CoC that track the tracker . CoC is fake numbers, yet we have dozens of fake people tracking fake numbers that if we were to him them we would have a 72 MLR. not possible. savings year over year in medical just isnt going to happen
I got laid off yesterday with Elevance too! 12,000 people will be laid off in the next 2 months! I’ve dedicated my life to this company to only be done like this! Registered Nurse that’s been there for 16 years! I’m devastated to say the least! Gail has wrecked havoc in this company just like she did to United and she will be racked up her millions/billions and be gone by this time next year! We should have went on strike!
I got lay off too, senior , expert in my area running the show, while interns are kept at team 🙄
Four of us Americans in my department were laid off today. The workers from India are safe, even though the individuals I worked with should have been fired a long time ago. These specific individuals are inept and have a poor handle of the English language, although their jobs depend on it. Management didn’t care that the Americans laid off red redid their work for them. It was expected. And now they get to keep their jobs.
I just got laid off from Elvh. I suspect it was because I was not Indian. I think my position got out sourced to india.
They just fired someone who had been with them for 37 years!!!! Don't have any faith left in leadership
Amerigroup to WellPoint to Anthem and now Elevance!! It costs how much to change the name and yet layoffs are happening in multiple phases 2023. Ridiculous!! But yet Gail still gets nominated for awards and makes millions of dollars while employees (former) are struggling. Make it make sense!! Beyond disgusted with this company and their lack of loyalty to employees who have 10+ years of tenure…. Just to say “oh, we’re doing reorganization and your position is no longer needed.”
most of the layoff news is on the Anthem Layoff page
lets use this post to document any information we know about layoffs and in what areas.
ElevanceHealth is making a massive layoff on 09/21/2023. Watch out!!
Layoffs at elevanance health are in full swing. 9/20/23
Layoffs at elegance are in full swing right now.
New names aren't going to fix what's wrong. Its more
Insidious. In fact, leadership believing a name change will work are playing a shell game. They didn't even communicate the change and reason fir the change well to anyone whether it was internal associates, employer groups, customers/members, providers or the public at large. Let's just keep shuffling around and maybe no one will notice we are dismantling the company.
Letting Beacon Health Options managed the merger is either a purposeful set up for failure or the definition of insanity. (They ran the Valu-Options merger also, got rid of all Valu-Options people then Anthem thought acquiring them was a good idea (was that the same leader who brokered the Cigna deal? That was another headscratcher). It didn't work for Beacon Health to manage 1 merger doing it again expecting different results is insanity!
Promoting whole person health? No, one can't promote health if you can't create a healthy workplace as a company. Maybe that's why fka Anthem is now lowered from their stronghold with UnitedHealthcare as the top 2 plans to 4th. Sad!
Working for Elevance is insane. It's crazy here.Something has got to give. It cannot go on like this forever....
Absolute sh-t show
Maybe in 10 yrs it will change back to Anthem? Anthem to WellPoint to Anthem to Elevance then back?
In the meantime executives are able to tout this « new » company and distance themselves from any negative public image.
"That's exactly right. Fired people - good people, for no reason. People who were championing the company. He had no business being hired as the CMO, we knew it on the marketing team when he started, and we know it now. And what did he do? Get rid of the people that would threaten him or counsel him."
B-I-N-G-O. Who signed off on hiring a guy who only knows crackers and washing machines to head marketing for one of the biggest health insurance companies in the country? He's not qualified to be an intern. GB is getting what she paid for in this sh*t show.
I cannot have a d-mb name on my resume...I quit!
Thumbs up, @cvdj+1fGCV4et. 2% raises, in a year where inflation ran about 7%. That's a hefty pay cut. How nice of our leadership to cut our pay (not theirs) after a year where the company results were pretty darn good. At least they're not still laying people off. Oh, wait, yes they are. And how much was spent on this ridiculous name change? Despite all the fluff-speak about healing the world for all eternity, leadership's actions are incredibly tone-deaf.
Tommy got a building. GB gets a new name. Perhaps GB and the board all get new clothes and other swag.
Wonder if changing the name allows the "new" company to change headquarter locations?
You have to love the irony of a company claiming they care about whole health as they make billions in revenue and give their employees 2% raises. What a sick joke. Oh, and who got the press release first - the WSJ of course, because health is for sure anthem's top priority. Give me a break.
Just plain stupid and a complete waste of money and time. This kind of change is not done cheaply. The legal costs alone are too much to make it worthwhile. No one will know who we even are for 10 years.
Oh... and let's not forget, OUR CLIENT'S DON'T CARE WHAT OUR NAME IS. They just want good coverage at as an affordable a price as they can get. If anything, changing our name just makes that even more difficult.
D-mb.
"CMO has been here several years and hasn't done anything except make people hate their lives. Guess this act of marketing genius is supposed to save him. Par for the course for execs at Anthem."

The amount of money wasted on b.s. initiatives is absolutely mind-boggling.
Lol I guess they want to refer all employees as Elephants.
There are too many negative comments about this name change. It indicates a lack of appreciation for the impact of the Indian culture at Elephant Health. The Elephant is a majestic and respected member of India! It makes total sense to disassociate the United States associated name "Anthem" to adopt a name that better represents the direction of the India based Legato company owned by Elephant Health. Just ask Anil Bahtt, Elephant's first ever Global Chief Information Officer.
Glad I am not the only one that heard 'Elephants Health' on the video. Without any emphasis on 'vance' in Elevance, I am guessing 90 percent of the hard of hearing will think we are saying 'Elephants Health'. Anthem marketing has taken a page out of the Facebook/Meta manual. We will have zoo keepers calling us now asking about insurance coverage for their elephants.
Are they trying to distance themselves from the bad reputation associated with the Anthem name in the marketplace?
If so, wouldn't it make sense to change the culture and improve the reputation?
I guess they figured changing the name was easier.
Elephants Health will improve the health of all humanity!
Ridiculous
Maybe they changed it so these comments woukd not apply to Elevance in their minds. Ha.
CMO has been here several years and hasn't done anything except make people hate their lives. Guess this act of marketing genius is supposed to save him. Par for the course for execs at Anthem.
So excited to work for Elevance Renewable Sciences.
Oh, wait...not them.
So excited to work for Elephants Health.
I cannot pronounce it. So, I think we need to go back to Anthem
