If you were ever laid off?
I remember mine. It was at a smaller bank. Rumors were swirling about layoffs.
Then we saw the first round. I sat there nervously watching people clean out their desks and leave.
Then the second round was the following week. I was sick watching people there for so long going.
Finally, the third week. That morning, I saw the same thing. I felt ill, but thought I was ok. By 3:30, my phone rang. It was H/r asking me to come to her office. I wanted to 💩. I knew it. My manager was sitting there with h/r. My time was up. I was there ten years.

I was layer off one time in 2007. My manager tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I had a second. I went to his office and there was a lady from HR. Second time was a mutual split in 2012. Was going through a divorce and having a hard time. My communist manager wanted to out me in an action plan and I said I would be contacting a lawyer. They decided on a separation package of 3 months pay.
Yep I remember. Been through it 7 times and watched lots of friends get the axe. It's not that bad although the moment it happens is stressful. Because of lawsuits mass layoffs are the only way to reshuffle the workforce according to the business need. Once you get past the idea that it's personal and realize it's just a business decision you'll be fine.

I remember mine. And the CEO made the entire executive board take a 30% pay cut for 3 years prior so the lower people on the rung would still get paid. He said the people on the bottom often did the hardest work, and he wanted to be sure they were taken care of. Then, when it finally came time for layoffs about half the company was let go but given 6 months severance, so we could look for other jobs without worrying about finances. Nice boss, I miss him.

I was with a medium-size organization for 25 years. The organization was formed over 75 years earlier and NEVER had a layoff. They brought in a banker from New York to head the company. Over 80% of the senior staff was laid off in under two years. I was escorted into a small conference room where an HR rep was waiting. I was told I was being laid off and told not to come back for my personal possessions (along with others of the same fate) until after 6:00 PM that evening so they could get everyone else out of the building.
Not a good memory.
