I am looking at jobs at Wells Fargo (within Corp. Risk) and most of the job mention knowledge or expertise of Tableau. Is the management trying to make everyone a data viz. expert or what?

Charlie is the worst when it comes to understanding technology. He wants to see everything in Excel or PowerPoint. He fancies himself as a techie but cannot comprehend the idea that he should always be looking at live data, not fossilized remnants of it buried in static Excel and PowerPoint decks.
I recommend hiring Hadoop. He can run rings around Tableau.
My anecdote is you will still be tied to Excel while working with it. I hope this isn't the case for all.

Tableau was the fad 5 years ago. This is actually pretty good for Wells to look into as we are generally 25 years behind in technology. This is possible as it is so easy to implement but still is a glimmer of hope for tech.

You don't 'sell' anything. You do it. 'Selling' is part of the problem.
Reporting is fine, but Wells Fargo has too much reporting and too many metrics.
Ok, so how do you sell the quality over quantity as you say? You just set up meetings with senior leaders and tell them? No documentation or any facts and hard evidence? What world do you people live in? Every company creates reports to determine progress and results. This is t having a conversation with your wife or husband.
For ANYONE looking for a job at Wells Fargo, regardless of reporting methods used, my advice is simply: "Run Forrest, RUN!!!"

You focus on quality over quantity, subjective vs objective, and you make sure management has the power to remove people who are abusing the trust we put in them.
So how else do you report on results and progress? Just tell leadership to trust you and don't worry about it?

Got news for you - whether its Tableau or Excel or Powerpoint, it's pointless. Aligning everything to be a reporting and numbers structure is a recipe for failure in a big way.

@bok+1fFB6TgZ my absolute favorite are the exec management who ask for a Tableau, you build it to their requirements then, when they see it say, “oh, take a screenshot and put it in PowerPoint for the review meeting, I don’t want to keep track of the link it comes from.”
This place is really something else.
They are obsessed with reporting so much so that they orientate the business process to the reporting in lieu of improving the business process. There are so many different systems on deprecated tech that they dump everything to excel and visualize it in tableau. Also I hope you adore Power Point because they then take those tableau charts and copy/paste them onto PP decks. It's kind of ridiculous.

Sounds like you don't know much about Tableau. It's a great data visualizer.
