My understanding is for unvaccinated employees (since I work high enough up the food chain and have been in some of the meetings regarding this), they are going to work from home until the company figures out how to get rid of them (they want everyone able to work on-site even if it's in a hybrid matter). They definitely don't want anyone working fully from home. Even employees that were fully remote pre-pandemic are now being required to go into the office (maybe because they don't trust us?). For contractors who are unvaccinated, they are planning to not renew their contracts once their contracts expire, and replace them with new hires who are vaccinated. They're dealing with contractors first because those are easier to get rid of. For employees, they have to figure out legalities of terminating someone, and if they want to offer severance packages or not, etc.
Most recruiters for most jobs are asking if you're vaccinated, even for remote roles. When asked why, the recruiters say they are being asked by the companies to ask, even if you're never expected to step into the office ever. Probably as a means of ostracizing the unvaccinated (some of whom have medical reasons why they can't get vaccinated).
