service managers, operations managers are now being forced into personal banker roles after Wells Fargo decided they were no longer needed. If you don't want to do the banker job, ie. sales calls, then you resign. No option for severance even though they chose to eliminate the position.

I thought they already eliminated the Service manager role by giving them a new title "branch operations supervisor"

Customer service managers are not needed in the branch. Everything is digitally enhanced so why keep humans on payroll. It's cheaper and just wrong. No one will have jobs soon

Service Managers are Branch Operation Managers. They not only see the operations of the Branch so everything from the pens that customers use to fill out their withdrawal slips to the parking lot being plowed in the winter to the money in the vault, the morning huddles that are held, to overseeing risk management, loss exposure, approvals for branch employees, assisting with keys and combos for the Branch, working a teller window, overseeing the teller line and the tellers schedules/performance reviews/observations/one on ones. The Operations MGR is the backbone of a branch. If you ask most people who work in branches they will say the operations or previously known as service manager is a valuable and important part of a branch. I haven't heard they are displacing them but I have heard that if one quits or leaves the company, depending on how many employees are in the Branch, they will not replace their position.

Oh, ok. So stuff that branch managers should be doing. With staffing dropping at banks, it's easier for the BM to do that work. Seeing that half of the branches are closing this year, it's a smart move.

To explain the role: the service manager in the branch is responsible for all teller operations and the tellers report to them. There is no teller supervisor; they are it. They supervise, do the teller reviews, do the scheduling and often work a drawer themselves. They also act as an assistant manager and do everything the manager does not want to do. They are the “operations” person in the branch and are responsible for service as well. Id--tic to displace them but you know what we are dealing with….

A service manager is one who oversees the mechanics when you bring your car in for a wheel balancing.

What about Service Managers in units outside of retail. Are Service Managers in business banking and private banking eliminated also?

I keep asking this and no one will take me seriously and answer. What is a service manager? If I don’t know who you guys are, I can’t see how your role is that vital.

As long as we have Human Resources roles, Chainsaw Oiling jobs, and ots of DEI hires who need velcro sneakers, we're good.

Project Manager, Product Owner, Business Manager, Technology Manager, Senior Technology Manager can be merged into one Manager. All these positions are people management roles. What a waste.

Waste of a job function anyway. Branches are bloated with nonsense duplicate positions. Long overdue

Do you not understand this is an anonymous board and that posting sources may get people in trouble?

This has been in the works for a long time, reported in multiple posts.

Yes, we know. This was a topic of discussion on here a couple of weeks ago.

This was expected. It's something the branch manager job used to encompass anyway. But seeing as half of all branches are closing this year, it's a precursor for things yet to come.
