They paid a fortune in some of our buildings in my east coast hub city to re-do the conference rooms and the sound leaks even more than before. You could walk down the halls and hear everything going on every room these days.

That and the lack of good soundproofing in basically every conference room there is. Before the one Sr Exec we had in our building left the company, we could hear every word of his calls from his office, word for word. We told him and he moved to a conference room which has worse soundproofing so we could hear things even more clearly.
RTO will be good for the Rumor Mill. That's the best source of information we have.
Just think of the opportunity this presents you since when you're laid off, there's a good chance they shut your access down while you're in the meeting where they announce it.
If you're WFH, you don't have the ability to tell anyone who doesn't know. You're just gone, poof.
If you're in the building, when they walk you out the door you can scream, "They just laid me off, this entire floor is next, get out while you can!!!"

If you think you’re going to have a lifelong career in a branch, those days are long gone.
10-15 years tops before nearly all are closed. You do not understand the tidal wave of AI and automation that is coming to nearly every job sector.

With this new neighborhood seating, each day you sit somewhere different. You won’t even know who will be there when you are laid off. It might not even be anyone you know. If there aren’t enough seats that day, you might be in a conference room.
That's about the size of eet. Everyone gets to see you at your desk in the morning, then later you're no longer at your desk anymore. 🤷🏼♀️
