Not anymore. Has anyone actually READ the severance guide that just came out.....?
It says you have 30 days after being notified of your new location. Everyone in the company was notified of their new locations back in September.
So using Location/RTO as a means of getting a severance is out.
All big companies except Wells Fargo offer voluntary severance packages. They just write off the expenses. No big deal except here.... Stupid is as stupid does Charlie.
Read the updated severance policy - you CAN volunteer but it is tied to office location impacts if you were moved to a different office. There are 3 or 4 conditions and you have to meet them all. If you do, and you want to go, the golden ticket is yours.
I qualify, told my boss, who is now doing a mad scramble to get me transferred back to my original location. I’m hoping they say no and cut me a big check instead.
The question has come up before.
While it would make life easier and get Wells Fargo to their desired headcount in record time, the answer (sadly) is “No”. WF has zero interest in spending money on separation packages when they can just manage you out with new/unattainable metric expectations or with passive corporate bullying and performative theater (i.e. RTO).
Why would a company pay you to leave when they can frustrate you enough to do it for free?
They will tell you to just go. They will not pay you any severance if that is what you are looking for.
