The only number that matters is how many fat overpaid pole climbers we got rid of. Anyone got the stats on that?

Anyone with drive and self-worth has left Verizon retail. You can’t tell someone who makes 80-100k that their commission is now based on Johnny Decelerator’s efforts and expect top talent to stay. As the previous poster mentioned, all that’s left is unmotivated and scared to leave types.

The company did not get rid of "dead weight." The company got rid of expensive, tenured and seasoned sales and leadership professionals...many of which held the keys to success.
What's left are the dregs, the hangers on, those who work just to keep their jobs, check boxes, and do nothing more.
Verizon hasn't innovated a new and exciting product since forever.
They'll keep eliminating work groups until "automation" (and poorly-written automation, at that) takes over.
Death by a thousand cuts.

"the low level managment ranks are now filled based on race not talent."

you forgot gender, binary/non-binary (whatever that is) & $exual orientation.

that's what's important to VZ right now for the most part.

what companies besides Amazon, Walmart, etc. and an innovative, high-quality, affordable cell provider like T-Mobile, have not drastically cut their workforce?

According to CNN MONEY , Verizon had 256,000 employees in Nov. 2001 . Verizon has sold a lot of territory since then . Still a huge downsize .
