Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Don't get your hopes up

If you lose members of your team and then have to do take over their work until replacements are hired, don't hold your breath that it will happen any time soon. We've lost three team members in the last month and we're still waiting for ONE replacement. And there's no indication we'll be getting one, at least not for a while. If you lost team members, better get used to more work indefinitely.

Like LE said, you are just "melting away". Take the hint, get out of the company.

I expect it depends on whether you are in an area of the company that LE wants to just let "melt away". No new hires for you!

It's been that way for at least ten years, so, in other words, nothing has changed. Big surprise.

Or…you get offshore “colleagues” who don’t share your work schedule or your skill set. Creative head count. It’s more likely that your dept will get smaller regardless of the workload. Like another comment indicated, if there is no consequences nobody cares.

They need to get the $$ for the Cerner acquisition from SOMEWHERE. You are old news.

And when you get a replacement, you get someone with their first job out of school to replace someone with 12 years of business experience! Instead of having a valued team member you get an ‘opportunity’ to mentor!

As long as you continue to absorb the work with little to no consequence it'll stay that way.
If there were significant consequences the story would be different. Ask around. I believe you'll find that some teams have filled open positions very quickly.
