Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

would you ever go back to Wells Fargo once you left?

If you left Wells Fargo, would you go back to work for them?

Wells Fargo won't be around for that to even occur.

Probably not.

My larger team has been exemplary in our group of 500 or so for the last 4+ years. Recently many of the best leaders, smartest individual contributors, and even some of the more average members have all left due to being overworked and underpaid after years of overachieving compared to peer teams in our group.

Pay for performance has been a joke, it’s more of a “ride them until they drop” approach for the most competent people. I’ve been trying to leave externally for a year, and while I’ve had some good interviews, no luck. I may end up taking another role internally if I can’t find something external in Q1 or early Q2 just to get away from the impotent leadership that has failed to take appropriate steps to retain top talent, and destroyed the overall morale and fabric of teamwork that we had.

It's pretty closed minded to make that decision now. A lot of things can change.

@1dwc, I can so relate. I am doing the same thing, because there is no use in staying. I am surrounded by backward-thinking people that have been there forever and do not want to change or improve. They want to keep the same archaic system in place with SHrP after SHrp after SHrp...

I spent almost 8 years at WF. The last 5 in management trying to get sh-t sorted out for the better. Year after year rated as exceeds expectations, but could never get past all the bu-----t caused by those above me who had been here 20+ and liked things just the way they were. Plus, for my job and level of performance, I was grossly underpaid. I left this past April because my mental health had enough of the toxic environment. Went to a consulting firm and increased my salary by almost 40%

So yes, to answer your question, I am really fu----g charming...

You sound charming. I can’t imagine why people aren’t begging for you to come work for them.

Only if I could make twice as much money and get rid of all the deadwood and dinosaurs that refuse to change things because they are used to doing the same things with the same archaic technology that they have been since 1983.

It is usually not a good idea for either party to return. But the Q also highlights the point that one should always leave on good standing, if possible.

@fxd, so agree. I was a contractor for a long time. I preferred that. I came back as an FTE prior to the scandals. I am working with the same people from 25 years ago and it just isn't a good environment for me. These people do not like outsiders and they are constantly (obsessively) laughing and joking about nothing. There is no growth; there is no improvement; they are just happy to be working on the same system and being part of their big toxic clique. I can't stand it and I can't wait to leave - to never return. There will be absolutely no love loss.

Not unless I was going to use the position to leapfrog into another non-WF one for more money.

I left a few months ago after 16 years. The last business group that I was with had a lot of dysfunction, low morale and a lack of motivation. I was lucky enough to land with a company that has a more positive culture. I will never go back. Even if the culture improved at Wells, I still would not go back. 16 years of financial services was long enough. Time for something different.

I would not go back. The clowns they are bringing in from the other banks are creating a big mess.

No. The same things Chainsaw and crew are doing have been done at other large financial institutions and they are all a mess still.

As an auditor, during receivership or bankruptcy procedure, call me sentimental and a softy.

Yes. Because when I joined this company it was a great place to work. Assuming that Scharts and SVB don't completely leave this place looking like LA after SkyNet takes over, things could get better.
