Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why do the most talented bother them?

It is quite obvious that it is not good to be among the most talented and capable employees here. It is better to be average and work under the radar. I just wonder why so much "fear" of the most talented and aversion to people whom all promising and great companies would be happy to have?

It's a job. It's burger king with better pay and bennies. That's why I hang in there, plus I don't need to flip burgers.

Verizon has a relationship based culture, not a performance based culture. This is common in corporate America due to the lack of industry competition. Join a startup in Silicon Valley if you value performance over relationships.

Just find the right group and boss who only cares about his own agenda and then just fake it to make it. Over half the company is doing it. Remember your only in it for the paycheck. Your only going to climb higher unless you kiss a-s or we stop the influx of H1Bs into the company. I'm glad I have a few years left of this jo--t. Take them for all you can. Once Amazon gets their private 5g network running its only a matter of time we are sold to them
