Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

RTO is not the end of the world

We all know that. We'll go back to the office, we'll grumble but continue to do our jobs, and everything will be as it was within a few months. But here's the thing, why do we need to make things go back to how they were when it was proven over and over again that WFH has improved productivity? That's a fact. So instead of trying to find a way to keep things as close to as they are to keep that advantage, we are turning the wheel back. How is that a good decision? How can this leadership justify that?

Disagree OP…it is the end of the world. These clowns better come to their senses soon and delay RTO. Should have been done already.

CPG is not ready. No way we can do this

“How can this leadership justify that?”

Key word being “leadership”. We have zero leadership, just a bunch of overpaid spoiled eternal-frat-boys raiding the company from the inside out.

My boss said something interesting in our one on one this month. He said SP and friends did a building site tour and met with CPG on those tours. CPG gave them a list of departments they wanted back in the office ASAP. (He told me this since my department was one they specifically mentioned despite the fact that all our actual work is still set to be virtual for the foreseeable future.)

That points heavily toward the theory that part of the RTO reason is CPG needs to justify their existence and budgets.

@sbg+1eorIS7O Here’s the crazy guy trying to shoehorn in his whining about DE&I in an irrelevant thread once again

It’s definitely going to be somewhat of a challenge in my area where we’re across all the US time zones. Right now people are pretty flexible with having early meetings or staying late, but that’s going to end when we’re commuting. It will be interesting to see how that’s handled.

@tqa+1eorIS7O funny you mention Google. Did you know they have a Retail Banking division now? I found out when I saw an ex-WF guy pop up in my LinkedIn feed as Head of Retial Banking there a few months back.

So while we are definitely not Google, Google is definitely looking to replace us.

RTO is not the end, but it may be the beginning of many discrimination cases. If they want attrition, this is the way to do it. However, a mass layoff would be more humane.

The word was passed in a Town Hall quite a while ago that there are 13 metrics related to productivity that they track, and that all were up.

Unfortunately I don't know what those metrics are, or how much they were up. But that was the spoken word that I heard from a direct 1 under Chuckie.

The only explanation I can think of for forced RTO is simply because insecure management wants to see butts in seats.

Scott P is not going to issue another email. Stop the pipe dreaming. Even if only some go back it will be a victory for Charlie Company. It has to start somewhere, sometime. We are not Google.

When I go back we will all retain our desks. The director said so in an email recently. I also look forward to seeing some friends. This will be a good first week. Looking forward to Jan 10th.

Let's see if they start pushing hard on the DE&I BS when we return to the office. Fortunately, it's been a bit subdued over the past couple of months, but I'd imagine the misery of returning to an environment where morale couldn't be any worse coupled by an onslaught of DE&I notifications could serve to push those folks on the fence to pick up and leave. If there was any light at the end of the tunnel for this bank, the dread of having to RTO wouldn't be as significant. How anyone can see light at the end of the tunnel is beyond me.

Exactly. They will hit close to 15,000 just closing half the branches and the staff supporting them but the real focus is the office jobs - those will start early this coming year, unfortunately. It's going to be much higher than 15,000 total.

Original Poster. Have you actually SEEN the productivity metrics. Do you have any essence of how they would measure it? There is none. It is assumptions that they have not seen deliverables drop off during WFH. However, that is not a FACT that can be articulated in numbers. Fewer people same work = productive. I think people can act like professionals and WFH. WF is allowing flex. 3/2 and OMG the sky is falling. Maybe they should just remove the flex option which they may do in the future so enjoy the 3/2. WF is on the doubtful list of permanent WFH so i would grab all those jobs at companies that are all WFH while you can.

This just reminds me of the old saying. Give them an inch they will take a mile. What was a temporary situation has now become an entitlement to all the employees that are whining about RTO but they are returning to shopping, traveling, eating out, etc.

There will be deaths, hospitalizations, and permanent injuries (such as organ damage) among Wells Fargo employees and their families if we are called back in in January. I sincerely hope management comes to its senses and abandons this reckless, irresponsible course.

CPG needs to justify it's size, budget, and existence. Hence the "need" for a one size fits none company wide policy. #s of rear ends in seats is a metric they want to report on, and productivity etc. isn't relevant to them.

It's past time that we contact out the vast majority of that LOB. We don't need highly compensated hall monitor Karens.

OMFG STFU about RTO already. All these stupid threads are ridiculous. You don't want to go? Get one of the plentiful WFH jobs out there. You ready to go back? Good for you.

eh, RTO is no big deal what-so-ever.

It's the way 'management' is going about it. and why they are doing it. no one is buying the collaboration, 'face-to-face' nonsense, we all no they want us to quit, that why they are so draconian in their insistence. much like the government and their 'vaccine' demands. just obey!

the biggest downfall for me about this entire cluster is losing my desk and doing the 'neighborhood' baloney.

the whole thing is about money, and chuck has got to shave some off somewhere.
