RTO delayed again

Hearing a rumor that a meeting is taking place today to discuss delaying RTO. Word is only vaccinated employees would be allowed back in the office on a voluntary basis. This is consistent with the approach many other companies have recently announced. Let’s hope it’s true. I can’t imagine having to RTO with Covid surging the way it is right now.

There were 3 emails or so the last two weeks stating that 1/10 is RTO date for tech employees. I would be surprised if they pushed it back yet again, but what’s new. When would they have us return then?

SOME teams are exempted from RTO, which was approved by the boss. This is 100% true. why? because they cannot afford to lose those people with highly competitive skills. Wonder which teams?? search job family starting with quantitative and look at their salaries.

I tend to ignore rumors and try not to pass them on these days. People take gossip as gospel and then get super aggravated when their hopes are dashed.

It’s time to end the charade and accept the fact that WFH is the future. Companies that don’t adapt will soon be reading about themselves in the history books. Give employees the freedom to work where they want. Treat them like the adults that they are. If their work product is not satisfactory than let them go. There is a reason the best and brightest are no longer interested in working in finance but going to the tech companies instead. All you have to do is look at the leadership.

This will be interesting to watch play out. Wells is so he11 bent on returning, but they HAVE to recognize the seriousness of the environment right now. Tightrope for them, reputation-wise.

NYC/NJ getting hit hard right now. In a week or so it will be like that all over the country. Some people don’t seem to grasp the fact that although the symptoms are mild for some they can be severe for others including us older folk and particularly the unvaccinated. Taking a one size fits all approach and forcing people to RTO against their wishes puts those individuals at risk. I’m tired of the young and healthy making this out to be no big deal. Not all of us are fortunate enough to be young and healthy. And I’ve got news for you, you won’t be forever either. Please show some consideration for the rest of us. I hope this rumor is true. RTO should be postponed indefinitely until this is behind us.

The current virus , omicron, is just a bad and sometimes irritating cold as similar as the ones we normally get. We all need to lighten up a bit on our anxiety over this.

Seems inevitable considering the current circumstances. Wouldn’t be surprised if another lockdown is on the way.
