Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Denial of Service Courtesy of Empower Retirement

Tried to login on Friday 12/3 to Empower Retirement, verification code was sent 30 minutes later instead of 3 minutes. So effectively preventing login. This continued and then I eventually saw a message warning of some Amazon AWS issues. Ok so here we are almost a week later -- same thing happening. Anyone else having this issue? This is a great addition to all of the other cr-p going on.

Hosting anything serious with Amazon’s AWS offering is an idea which has come, and gone. Yes, it’s quick to setup. When it goes south you will experience the worst customer service nightmare ever.

We spent over a week with Amazon attempting to get a portion of our datacenter which we outsourced to them recovered and functioning. It was one of the worst customer service experiences ever. Essentially they lost the portion of our data center which we handed to them and there was no credible way to get support. It was worse than trying to get a refund as a consumer.

Virtualization is great, but you have to own it all and be able to manage it. We at Wells are in the stage of taking the initial baby steps which the industry began to take 25 years ago and it is a horrible start.

When you deal with third party providers, that’s what you get. They have no incentive to fix things like your own staff would.

It’s all about being cheap, not what makes sense for the business and the customers, that latter who has been I’ll served frozen all this change the past couple of years.

This is exactly why we shouldn’t go to a cloud-based server. Easily hackable and we are a damn bank; not some company selling bobble-heads. Whomever made this call….what an id--t!!! But it’s all about “saving” money. We’ll see how that goes when they demand a zillion bitcoin to let us back in.

Wells Fargo is having to outsource everything, because they can’t do anything right themselves. The problem is that they are too cheap to even outsource to a good company.

It’s all about cost cutting and we’ve set the bar at mediocrity, at best. Charlie and our BOD are running us into the ground.

Wells Fargo = mediocre.

Empower is junk. Everyone knows it was a major downgrade. However, Amazon Web Services (AWS) was down. Massive interruption to businesses everywhere. National news story.

I'm ok now too, thanks for checking. I thought being unable to login for nearly a week was a bit too long.

Thanks for checking, it appears to be fixed now for me as well -- although the code took over 10 minutes to arrive at 7:20AM. I suspect they are getting overwhelmed and may not be able to handle the traffic. I will be logging in at least an hour ahead of time going forward. I'll want to verify my 6% match after 12/31. AND THEN QUIT lol.
