Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Cleaning house and good 'ole boy/girl club

Many have seen layoffs in various groups (yes, tech has been affected. :-) )

Recently a tech group displaced two "execs". But guess what, they just hired a new leader (higher title) and guess what company this person came from-- yep, BofA.

Just amazing how many people are just being shown the door and new hires coming in at higher pay and title.

Funny but true. Probably 70% of the tech risk oversight team started back in 2015 was former Boa, practically all of the leaders.. Lots of blatant nepotism. Former colleagues got more money and better jobs because of their former relationships. This is known from first hand experience. Was glad to see some break up of that group where people had to justify their positions on merit vs relationships.

"BofA and talent don't go together"

Don't worry they will produce a bunch of PPT decks, pitch the higher ups for funding. A couple years after its a sh-t show they will run off, rinse and repeat. They really should be working to promote the talent within. Best people will keep jumping ship in a good job market. BofA and talent don't go together. Those guys almost went under in 2008 from lack of brains.

Your post is more negative than the OP’s.

So… they hired an exec from another big 4 bank? Why is that shocking or negative? If they hired from a regional bank or another industry, folks would be griping that he/she was unqualified.

And if they hired one person to replace two folks at a lower level wouldn’t that be consistent with span of control goals? Probably cheaper too.

At this point, any decision a leader makes at WF will be attacked.

This board has completely lost the layoff thread.
