Polio vaccine is also nearly 100% effective in preventing transmission, while these new dr-gs are closer to 0%.

Key difference between polio and covid, after you had polio you were exempted from getting vaccinated. I love how after watching the mainstream media everyone thinks they're an expert on the subject. Lets let real scientists duke it out while we keep our liberties. CDC does not know exactly how many people die from seasonal flu each year. There are several reasons for this. First, states are not required to report individual flu illnesses or deaths among people older than 18 years old to CDC. Second, flu is infrequently listed on death certificates of people who die from flu-related complications. Third, many flu-related deaths occur one or two weeks after a person’s initial infection, either because the person may develop a secondary bacterial co-infection (such as bacterial pneumonia) or because flu can aggravate an existing chronic illness (such as congestive heart failure or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Also, most people who die from flu-related complications are not tested for flu, or they seek medical care later in their illness when flu can no longer be detected from respiratory samples (sensitive flu tests are only likely to detect flu if performed within a week after onset of illness). In addition, some commonly used tests to diagnose flu in clinical settings are not highly sensitive and can provide false negative results (i.e., they misdiagnose flu illness as not being flu.) If that's true, we can't compare COVID death rates to flu death rates, meaning we can't say COVID is no worse than the flu.

(AKA, no matter what the LAW says), we're going to do our own thing. EGOTISTICAL id--t! For the people in the back! COVID vaccines do NOT stop transmission! They keep you out of the hospital and from dying. Stop saying you or someone you know is vaccinated but still caught COVID. Is that vaccinated person in the hospital or dead? That is the question. Wells is just trying to keep their liabilities low from lawsuits because they understand this concept. They can say they promoted vaccinations when people sue for unsafe working conditions. They can tell shareholders they tried to keep PTO low because people weren't out sick nonstop and impacting revenue. Do what you need to do to protect yourself and those you love. That's all there is now.
I applaud his email and glad to see they are now taking science into the equation - that people with the first two shots are no longer fully vaccinated and boosters are needed.
If not, testing for everyone not fully there.

Ditto. I have a friend who thinks it’s rude to cancel last minute. No - it’s rude to show up sick. It is ALWAYS rude to show up sick. You don’t want to miss an event? Sorry - would you rather get your friends and family sick?
We have a man in our office who brags that he has never called in sick one day in 25 years. He’s come in with Influenza A, the stomach flu, terrible colds and coughs and a red crusty nose picking through the office food, blowing his nose and then touching everything, using the ice machine and attending meetings in small conference rooms. He’s proud that he shows up every day, and thinks that proves him to be the best employee. I would say he’s selfish, thoughtless, and his priorities are in the wrong place.

You nailed it. They have done this in Asia for years. But they actually think of protecting public health unlike selfish Americans.
I might be American but the actions of a lot of my people and especially the so called leaders the past five years or so embarrass me.

I don’t want to catch the flu either. Or a cold, bronchitis, any other upper respiratory infection, strep throat, pink eye…you name it.
The new call to action should be people staying at home if they have any symptoms of illness. Or at the very least, being thoughtful enough to mask up. Don’t pass your contagious disease around in public: period. How selfish do you have to be to show up anywhere sick?
And for all the people out there who claim “it’s just my allergies.”. You don’t know for sure, so just mask up. Be considerate -it’s not that difficult.
People die from flu so how is that everyone has the same reaction?
We may be over vaccinating our children now. We may be causing overreactive immune systems. Why not study it?
So people who ignore their health is a reason to vaccinate everyone?
Ahhh yes, the old "if one dr-g is good for you, then all dr-gs must be good for you" theory. What is this, college?
I am vaccinated and boosted, but truth be told: vaxxed or unvaxxed is mattering less and less to me as far as RTO is concerned. I feel safest if all parties in an indoor space are properly wearing masks. (It does matter outside of work, where I have control of who I see and when, and because I have more knowledge of my friends’ and family’s lifestyle choices.)
Do I want to wear a mask at work? No. But that is how I will feel safest if we have to RTO. Testing will catch some but not all of the cases. Vaccines don’t seem to be preventing transmissions at this point.
If they want to keep employees safe, the #1 choice is WFH. #2 choice is testing + masks. And not the “only when away from your desk” masking. It needs to be the entire time in the building. People are too loose if the rules are not simple, firm, and strictly enforced.

I am pro-vax and boosted, and I completely agree with this. I don't want to unknowingly give COVID to someone who might experience its worst symptoms. Same with the flu, though with the flu everyone generally has the same reaction, and it's usually clear when you're infected.

I say let's dispense with vaccines altogether, especially childhood vaccines -- after all, doing so would strengthen our children's immune systems.

Yes, viruses can and will mutate based on their environment; however, vaccines reduce viral load in both the community and the individual, reducing the opportunity for mutation.

Do you think they’ve cross referenced the data from the people who have reported they are vaccinated and boosted and the people who report they’re positive ? Half my team was out with it and they were all boosted.

Some LOBs allow voluntary RTO but only if fully vaccinated. Also need to be fully vaccinated for business travel. Essentially separate but equal treatment. At the beginning of the year, messaging pivoted from encouraging voluntary return to a more neutral, “only if you’re comfortable.” They probably began to realize the potential legal issue of disparate treatment. Any class action lawyers out there?
