"How are things outside of the company device/network being monitored?"

I think the OP was talking about how we're all monitored outside of work by Google and Apple and Facebook through our everyday devices.

You clearly have zero idea on how technology works in an enterprise setting.

There may be one team (or maybe an ai) parsing files, but they wouldn’t have any idea on how to take tech support calls, because that’s not their job. You don’t walk into a bakery and ask them to hook up your cable tv.

Chrome or all software move quicker? This makes no sense. Chrome runs fine. It’s a memory hog, and that’s nothing we can fix. That’s Googles issue. As for other software, there are various things that cause slowdowns - authentication tools like Okta, network routing (much more secure and layered than a home connection and personal computer), cloud vs local, etc.

Who and exactly where, is going thru all this data being monitored? Cant we put those resources toward the help desk or ask hr so we don't have to wait hours and sometimes days for a Response? Or how about putting those resources towards making chrome or all the software move quicker? What a freaking waste of time, money and energy monitoring our own employees like children!!!

@evy+1eLiexYJ How are things outside of the company device/network being monitored? Seems like that would be a huge breach of privacy outside of the monitoring disclosure that we all have to agree to…

How is this a surprise? You think a physical phone isn't being/can't be monitored?

I thought it was well known that pretty much any company device you use can be monitored -- email, IM, physical phone, corporate phones. Actually I think for some positions (regulated users) pretty much every phone call is recorded (I've been on conf calls with people before you hear the constant beep of the recording)

Hey I know, maybe just do company business on company stuff. And if you do anything personal, just keep it benign -- like honey, I'll pick up xyz on the way home. Nobody will care if you do that.

The fun part is that things you do outside of the company device/network are monitored as well.

Just assume you are being monitored and recorded at all times at work.

Yes you may have to click it a few times. Do not click no/decline.

You accept or click OK, and go on. The certificate error is normal.

Remember than electronic system usage agreement you signed when you accepted the offer of employment?

You agreed to being recorded on any, and every WFB owned device when you signed it.

They don't need a disclosure if its internal. External customers have a warning stating calls are recorded for quality assurance/compliance. You should assume all internal communications are being recorded in this manner - because they are.

I assumed they have the ability, if not the legal standing, to record calls. That being said, I don't even use my soft phone. In fact, Jabber is completely unusable because of a certificate popup that's been around for weeks.

actually, I would think legally they can't given many states require both parties to agree to being recorded so unless it is announced at the beginning of each call they could get intl trouble. while I'm not a lawyer I did stay at a holiday inn last night. now. in terms of having conversation over Skype and teams, I assume they can and do record those if they want or perhaps they have ai analyzing all conversation and only record when certain words or topics come up. as an employee of any company on the world using company resources they can and do monitor.

I assume when you say softphone you're referring to the software for contact center phones? Of course all conversations between customers and reps are recorded. If you happen to make personal calls (you shouldn't) while logged into softphone, of course that will be recorded too. Use your cell phone for personal calls.

Where is the disclosure that allows this ?

And? All should be professional, business-related calls. Shouldn't be a problem, right?
