Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

New hires have been leaving in droves

HR here ......Every new hire that has quit in the past year has mentioned the surveys effecting pay being a reason for leaving. This was in the exit interview process. I have never worked in the retail stores but can tell you this topic is brought up almost daily. Apparently there are a lot of good survey comments about the employees but the actual low scores have been based on things out of their control.

The message from DMs, Directors and above is we need/want sale people, yet we are hiring “bodies”. It’s clear that without individual comp plans and an employee focused culture we are not heading in the right direction.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I’m in a large city area.

It doesn’t make a difference who the OP is/was. How we treat and train new hires is an embarrassment. What’s also embarrassing is the lies the new hires are fed by the recruiters and believe until they reach the store and hear the truth.

These HR thumbs down people are like Na-is supporting Hi---r. Do they believe we are making this stuff up? Go ahead and thumbs down these posts you evil bstards. You are compliant by ignoring real issues. Do you sleep at night? Remember... some day you will get what you deserve. I hope you think of this at that very moment. I will.

I've got an idea to help supplement. Get out of dead end retail.

We lost $600 bucks, on Christmas, while closed, because of surveys regarding inventory. GG. Going to look for outside the box ways to supplement income.

I finally know the feeling of getting your commission check cut in half because of last minute surveys. Happy holidays for Nov and Dec getting a $300 commission check. Thanks RIS.

One team, they said i wouldnt have all this stress and would have more work-life balance. They said it would be less pressure to sell.

We have 4 new people out across our two stores. They can't handle it. The pay isn't good enough to deal with the customer base, all the Verizon non-sense (ie hot floor and send people to the back to make cold calls, none of them thought they would be making cold calls as part of the job for one thing) Managers hounding metrics on products and services no one wants. One of the new hires even said "I had no idea that I would have to pitch and sell stuff, I assumed people just came in for it and left with what they wanted" This is why I think individual commission will NEVER come back. 1 out 10 new hires could even possibly survive pre-2020 Verizon.

Yeah you work for the union or legacy employee pi---d about team commission. Get over it. Not coming back. If worked in Verizon HR would know what you wrote is wrong in multiple ways.

The OP is 100% correct and it doesn’t matter if the person is HR or not. All factual stuff that has already been confirmed on here anyway. I work in a retail store and we lost two newbies the past six months.

I am the HR employee who started this topic. I’m not very happy with a lot of decisions made about my job the past two years. To say I’m bitter is an understatement. I don’t mind coming on here and stirring the pot about factual information that I have access to. Nobody has to believe anything I’m talking about but it’s no secret the retail stores have a retention issue with new hires.

Just proof that the feedback on how to fix employee morale and turnover is there AND....leadership is making a conscious decision not to change.

Writing is on the wall gang....

Yeah the surveys make me consider standing in front of a train on most days. The thing that makes me not is the impending lawsuit that will come. $$$
