Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Door Greeters & New Hires

Our door greeter makes around $20-$23/hour.

He’s awesome btw. Doesn’t let ANY bs into the store unless it’s a new line or someone trying to spend $$

But some of our reps that have been working for Verizon for a couple years are a little salty because they don’t even make that much.

That kind of created some tension in the store.

I’m noticing a lot of companies are upping the pay scale for the new hires instead of taking care of the ones that have stuck it out since day one of Covid.

Thoughts?

They don't get commission, benefits, sick time, paid during covid closures etc. I made about 17/hr as an Exp Spec 7+ years ago and that was with benefits. I don't think the greeters are being paid too much but the company also needs to pay its front line more in general.

#1, your greeter doesn’t make that much, that’s how much Verizon pays the company that employs your greeter, and #2, it’s no ones business, and if they want to make the same they can #3 quit and get hired by the company that does absolutely not pay $20 an hour and work for the month and a half that we will continue to employ them.

Sure, here’s a thought. He’s a seasonal employee, not your “door greeter” and not making a commission check like you and the rest of the losers in your store.

I’m just giving an estimate but verizon paid me to stay at home probably a total of two months with all the store closures we’ve had .

Though that is appreciated, it does suck how some tenured reps make the same as a noob.

Which is why I refuse to be the best performer in my store. I just sit back and milk that clock.
