Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

There's no denying it !!!

Our union(s) have once again slipped us the pickle...... it's as if they're just another level of VZ management... actually telling us to go ahead and schedule a shot,,,because....wait for it..."there's nothing they can do". Its just pathetic.

Autoworker unions were successful:

Ford, General Motors and Stellantis have agreed the United Auto Workers union members will not be forced to take the mandatory vaccine as a condition of employment.

Additionally, the vaccine status of the workers will remain private with a policy of private and voluntary disclosure.

The CWA has always been just a roll of the bell system. They teach this in management courses. Or at least they did. Having a union represents skilled workers means that the Company can treat everyone the same, regardless of their own skills, education, and contributions. Keep all the skilled laborers at the same party and benefits. Same amount of vacation. Same treatment for all. Go through the motions of a strike every six out seven years to keep up appearances, at the cost of a few weeks wages for the laborers and a nice strike bonus for managers in the form of lots of paid OT. Go union! No scabs! Wear co---e red! Pay your dues and follow the rules.

Sorry. But the people who represent the union really are just lawyers who are more aligned with Hans and Blackrock and the DNC than the needs of the union workers.

The union leaders do not care one bit about the folks in the field or in customer service. All they care about it your dues, which they gladly donate to the people who put Hans in the CEOs office.

Sad but true. The IBEW and CWA care more about Brandon and the DNC than you.

Wish we had the same union representation as the US autoworkers. Apparently their union (UAW) worked things out with the largest US automakers to avoid mandates.

@wtk is clearly one of the newer kids on the block. As the union showed with the last strike, when all of the managers were trained, and many with prior strike experience: the union can have a great deal of power. You can't do their job, but almost anyone can do yours.

The contracts have written in the. Emergency and healthy/safety provisions that allow actions by the company without renegotiation. Renegotiation usually only is about compensation, location, and benefits. These can be considered things like requiring helmets. No need to go back to the table.

@vbu I don't get involved in name calling nonsense. So serious question. If, as you said, it's been done before, name your source.. I'm pretty sure it's unprecedented, unless you can convince me with "when it's been done before".

They can amend an existing contract and have done it before. @kwe+1dXemH05

Let's be real. We have until August 2023. They can't amend an existing contract. They can and will have it in the next one. If you're not planning on getting vaxxed, you have until then, then you will be gone after 8.23... Just go out in FMLA or whatever until the current contract expires. Or you'll have to sue for breach of contract after feb1. Your choice

When Hans gave the union a four year extension a year early everyone loved him. And the union was amazing for getting it done. How soon we forget !!!

Unions no longer protect workers. They are just employment agencies who try to get a legal monopoly. Always funny to see their contracts when they usually get less than regular employees and they aren't protected from layoffs.

Tired of hearing about Union posts on a Layoff site that only effects Non Union employees.

Find another website to post or troll on.

Unions represent the laboring person and their interests.
Many of these persons actually.

Ignoring your own health and those of your co-workers (and family for that matter) is not really in the scope of representation of your labor interests.

Used to be just a 'Widow's Fund' you know.
But self-widowing was excluded.

OP is what we'd call in my old neighborhood a "Si--y Mary." If you were in the same room with me you'd be getting the super atomic wedgie for sure. Take the jab and go enjoy a Trump rally.

Hey, if you don't want the vaccine than don't take it and live with the consequences.
But please, man up and stop your moaning. Your just one more example of the p*ssification of America.
