Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Team member is a active Real Estate Agent

I was searching for a realtor and found one of my Wells Fargo team members operating as a real estate agent. Apparently, they have been for some time now. My question is how do they scan to verify if an employee is a real estate agent ? How do they know ? This person os thriving and has social media where they are selling multiple homes. I am excited for them but a tad concerned because I don’t want them to lose their job.

How did they not get caught ?

I will NEVER report anyone at Wells Fargo for making a honest living outside of Wells Fargo. I do not care about Wells Fargo because they do not care about us

You are not required to obtain pre-clearance for the following situations, unless pre-clearance is required by your business**
Performing activity as a real estate salesperson, broker, agent, or contractor for the limited purpose of purchasing or selling your
primary or secondary residence

And now that you know - you have an ethical obligation to report that person for a potential violation of corporate policy.

I can only assume those suggesting pre clearance either don’t work here, have someone else take their annual training or have very short term memories. There is only a very, very limited exception where an employee can act as a real estate agent, and it does not sound like that applies to the OPs example.

Anyone who says it's legal to be a real estate agent while working for this bank, is not an employee of this bank. It's in our Ethics handbook and we certainly will NOT PASS our training each year WITHOUT KNOWING THIS BASIC TRUTH.

Conor, understood that you’re worried with the layoffs, with your entry level skills and all, but there’s really no need to worry. You’re knocking down 3 mill per annum before bonus and they aren’t going to let you fail. Your entire extended banker family has your back.

As long as they have gotten prior approval through pre clearance approval process then there is really no issue here.

search the conflict of interest and oustide activities policy in teamworks, using a quick find (control-F) search using the key word real estate agent...you'll see its a prohibited activity.

Please. You come HERE for info and then call someone else lazy for not doing their own research? GTFOH with that hypocritical BS, you pretentious pr--k.

Yes, I do come here as stated, for LAYOFF info that cannot be found within company channels. That is what this topic and board if for. A lot of folks don't come here to read all the other non layoff related noise you and others support and post. Hypocracy? Obviously you cannot comprehend the difference between what this board is for and all the other non related layoff postings here.
Signed,
Hypocritical Pretentous Pr**k.

This thread is why they keep making us go through the lame training that should be common sense to most people.

Tell me you didn't pay attention to the training, without telling me you didn't pay attention to the training.

@srx+1dW0zO0E “ Not to read some lame a** topic because you are too lazy to look up conflics of interest in the handbook and the ethics site. P**k”

OP Here again: I did read the handbook and that’s why I am wondering how they did not get caught. I assumed Wells Fargo had a system in place to flag employees with a license but it does not seem like it.

With that said, you have the option to exit this thread if it makes you so angry

Doing second job in a different industry other than banking industry / having real estate license/ real estate family business/ or any other business in the name of a family members is not a conflict of interest. Most of the employees are doing one of the above, legally they can't do anything but once they doubt/receive a complaint, they target you to kick you out on some other reason.

Seriously - do you have nothing better to do?

Yes I do. I have a finite amount of time to spend coming here to try and get the inside scoop on possible LAYOFFS within the company. Not to read some lame a** topic because you are too lazy to look up conflics of interest in the handbook and the ethics site. P**k

Do you not take training? Selling real estate while being a member of a bank is a huge no no.

As long as it’s disclosed and approved as outside activities then there are no problems. A lot of employees have jobs outside wfa.

What does this topic have to do with layoffs?

There are lots. Some are working for closing companies other than WF, others are selling real estate without disclosing it to WF.

Majority of people getting caught at work for things they are not supposed to be doing is by tipsters emailing or calling into an ethicsline. You can report it anonymously to the ethicsline. Take screenshots of the social media account. Its a conflict of interest and would need to be precleared by WF which doesnt sound likely if they are acting as a real estate agent.
