Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Getting paid more over the past two pay periods, but have no idea why.

Anyone else see their paycheck go up over the past 2 pay periods?

I haven't been retitled
I haven't been promoted
I haven't even been talked to

didn't they just announce an increase on the minimum pay?

Yeah, this is probably because you're paid all in on Social Security.

You can look up the threshold.

FYI, don't tell your peers about this, I had a guy getting paid more than his team tell everyone about his paycheck/SSI increase, they all figured out what he made, and things got worse from there.

A lot of employees received a location increase. Your manager probably didn’t review it with you.

I got overpaid last year as some sort of bonus/incentive last year around September. However after couple of months I got an email/written letter saying I was overpaid and need to return the money. So don't celebrate yer.

What does this topic have to do with layoffs?

Look at your paystub, you likely either hit the social security tax cap or similar

@buw+1dUZWZzC I would check line for line before the higher net and after paystubs.

If it's not any of the annual max hits mentioned it could be a local tax that maxxed out - city, state unemployment. It's unlikely they screwed up your paycheck but not impossible and, if they did, better to get it sorted out on your time rather than when they figure it out at some random point.

The republicans just had a good election cycle so maybe taxes lower?

On a serious note: if you click “personal info” on teamworks, you can see your base salary.

@mza+1dUZWZzC - you forgot scheduling multiple meetings over the next six months with people who are irrelevant to the issue.

@buw+1dUZWZzC, if none of your regular deductions have changed, you should report what you see. If it's an error, they'll ask for it back once discovered. In other words, don't expect to hang on to it.

Got a salary adjustment earlier this year, as a retention raise.

It's because you paid your Social Security tax for the year.

This happens annually.

You know that saying about people who make assumptions, you can all apply that to yourselves.

I make/made well under $142k before, and after, this adjustment.
Deductions haven't changed, only net pay.
No way I could hit either 401k contribution or SS cap.
Yeah, I'm in tech.
Have none of the optional spending accounts, I'm too healthy to benefit from them.

Now, is there anyone who actually has a sound theory as to what's going on other than, "Generally happens before you are target for layoff.....are you part of Tech?"

Don't get me wrong, I've said many times on here that I'd love that year of paid vacation, but our team is already overworked and severely understaffed. I don't buy that I'm disappearing when they keep piling more work on us.

I never comment on these sites but need to here. This is literally what it is like to work with people within Wells. No critical thinking, no looking things up, no analytical thought, just sending notes out for other people to think for them. The only thing missing are the cascading emails with more and more people added waiting to hit the jackpot meaning find someone who actual knows something or will, can perform actual work.

Happened to me but I actually looked at my paystub to figure it out.

It’s because you’re an id--t and can’t figure this stuff out on your own. How about checking the paystub before the change and after the change to see what changed…..that would be my first instinct. But again I’m not an id--t.

You may have also maxed out your HSA or FSA

Maxed your 401k or hit the social security cap?

If you're gross pay is over $142,800 you've hit the Social Security max for the year and your gross will be 6.2% higher. You may have also maxed out on 401k.
