I believe he got high marks for hiring Paul McEwen, Gary Owen and Dimi Stratakis. Oh wait....
I think he is doing a great job too. NY is smarter than California (former headquarters).

What does this topic have to do with layoffs?
For crying out loud, that's in NY and how does NY stack up in technology. Most of the Fintech CIO's are not based there anyway, so he must must have won it by a landslide, 1 out of 1, or maybe 2. His recent decision to partner with Microsoft is already a decade behind our competitors. So I still don't understand.

Anyone can nominate a CIO. They give multiple of these out every year and a select group of prior winners get to vote on this year's winners.
They are supposed to be based on leadership effectiveness and industry activities. How can an outsider to the company grade him on his effectiveness without knowing what is going on at Wells Fargo IT. They can't. It is perceptions based on his public image: attending conferences, networking, and who he knows on the award committee.
Basically, he's done a great job at promoting himself. It is an ego award. I wish he would focus more on caring for the IT employees and actually supporting the business instead of trying to look good.
He is such an a$$ and he is so delusional if he thinks he is deserving of any award. He might deserve the most incompetent award of the year in NY and the world.
Lol! And in his Facebook post he thanked the team and went on to thank everyone and their grandma and then thanked his wife at the end. Guy made it sound like he was awarded a Purple Heart or something. What do you think the criteria to select this winner and what accomplishments are on his portfolio to justify this? These pointless awards are like being elected homecoming king or queen -- same with the "Most powerful in Banking" designation. The execs need the recognition to prove they are doing a great job, so they connect with the right people to vote them in.
